An expatriate's shopping list while back in the States

I'm about to head back home for summer vacation. I thought I would share the list of things I'm going to buy while I'm there, stuff that either isn't available here or overly expensive if it is. I keep this list and jot things down as I think of them during the year. Presented in no particular order. See if you can guess which things came from this site!

    corn nuts
    smoke wood blocks for BBQ
    celery seeds for slaw
    mustard powder for slaw
tarragon for BBQ corn on the cob
    chili powder
    hamburger pickles
    worcestershire sauce, large bottle
lemon juicer or concentrated lemon juice
    pepper grinder
    Morton's chili blend
    oven mitt
liquid measuring cup with Imperial measurements
    adhesive kitchen hooks
    shower grip adhesive strips
    New flying tiger model airplane
    regular ziploc bags
    atomizer for cologne
Dr. Bronner's soap. peppermint bar soaps as gifts for females?
Some kind of small gifts for kids
Some kind of medium gifts for adults
    White T-shirts
NO deodorant (this was on my list for ages and I bought it every time I went back...I have tons of it and won't need any until 2017 at least, LOL)
    benadryl mosquito cream
    vitamin D3
    vitamin E
    tennis shoes
    3M pollution filter masks
    3M wall hangers
    liquor chocolates from Spec's
solid color long sleeve shirts for wear with sportscoat
    Aggie jerky
    AAA batteries
    sunflower seeds
    red neckerchiefs

Shanghai 1937: Stalingrad on the Yangtze by Peter Harmsen
The Tragedy of Liberation: A History of the Chinese Revolution 1945-1957
The Dark Valley: A Panorama of the 1930s
    A Mad Catastrophe, Wawro
Henry Kissinger's new book about Asia
The Deluge: The Great War and the Remaking of Global Order 1916-1931

Other people asked me to bring:
$20 worth of multiple flavors of Swisher Sweets
    An "I love Texas" koozie
Maca pills (if anyone knows where to buy these in bulk, I mean thousands of them, please contact me)
Kiehl's facial cream 50ml and toner 250ml (ditto)

The last two are evidently super-hot in China right now.

You sure you can get the history of Chinese revolution back through customs?

Roger that. Did you ever get a decent grill? If you got the kettle grill, you might want to grab a Slow 'N Sear while you're stateside.

Haha, I still have my weber knockoff. The bar owner who was financing my BBQs lost interest or something, I haven't heard from him in a while. I don't know about the sear thing but thanks for reminding me to get a smokenator. I doubt it will fit in my weirdo Weber but it'll serve as a template for me to have a local machine shop fabricate one that fits. Thanks!

EDIT: Oh, the slow n sear is a replacement for the smokenator. Is it one size fits all? I have a 17" weber. Ohhh...I see. It only works on 22" or larger. No dice. Looks like the smallest smokenator is for the 18.5" model. Darn. I would love to buy a 22" weber and take it over with me but it just would never fit in my luggage.

Too bad your grill is too small. The SnS really takes things up a notch.

http://livesuperfoods.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=Maca has maca by the 12 oz. bag. Averages in the $25.00-$27.00 range unless they have bulk pricing. Also, http://www.swansonvitamins.com/q?kw=maca has caps and may also offer bulk price breaks. The Chinese are the reason maca prices went up this year as they send tourists to Peru and then smuggle the roots back to China. Price has more than doubled since the first of this year. Its's a crying shame... Maca is a great supplement.

Griddle And Deep Fryer In One

Pit Barrel Cooker Smoker
The flat top does the burgers and the fryer does the fries. Use the griddle for bacon, eggs, and home fries. Or pancakes, fajitas, grilled cheese, you name it. Why stink up the house deep frying and spatter all over? Do your fried chicken and calamari outside. Blackstone's Rangetop Combo With Deep Fryer does it all!

The Pit Barrel Cooker May Be Too Easy

Pit Barrel Cooker Smoker
The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It is absolutely positively without a doubt the best bargain on a smoker in the world. Period. This baby will cook circles around the cheap offset sideways barrel smokers because temperature control is so much easier.

The Undisputed Champion!

The Thermoworks Thermapen MK4 is considered by the pros, and our team, to be the single best instant read thermometer. The MK4 includes features that are common on high-end instruments: automatic backlight and rotating display. Don't accept cheap substitutes.
