Looking for suggestions on coffee grinders.

I am looking for suggestions on coffee grinders. I have gone back to drinking my coffee black so I buy some good coffee from a local roaster. I had an old blade grinder but it looks to be on its last legs. I do drip, Keurig, and cold brew. I have heard conical burr grinders are better. Thanks in advance.

The Baratza Encore. I have one, have had it for years, irregularly maintain it and it's a champ.

https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com/ba...coffee-grinder is local to me but they do online ordering and are very knowledgable. There are higher end grinders which I'd look at if you were serious about espresso since the Encore, while it can grind espresso fineness, is slower and less precise at that range. But for black coffee, it's hard to beat.

How much are you looking to spend? I have a Breville that I love. It wasn't cheap, but I looked at their web site and it appears that they have gone even higher end than what I have. I'm sure they are really good if you want to spend a little.

I haven't figure that part out completely. I am not afraid to to 200 or under if it will last me. I'd there is one slight above I could be swayed.

This is the one that we have used for the past 4-5yrs.. Does a good job of grinding, but is a little on the noisy side.. https://www.krupsusa.com/BREAKFAST-A...offee-machines

Here is a rating of burr grinders for 2020. It might help you in your decision making. https://best.offers.com/best-burr-gr...ca5630619a497b

I like the OXO Brew (used to be called barista brain grinder) with integrated scale, not super fine grind but quiet and both the containers are appropriately sized.

the bodum is loud and imprecise and the capresso has an annoyingly small catch basin so the chute gets clogged if you grind too much too fine.

Those blade coffer grinders aren’t great for coffee but are fantastic for grinding pepper etc when making a half gallon of BBBR.

Yep I have had my Krup blade for years and have ground pounds of spices and dried spices and herbs through it.

https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/th...offee-grinder/ is a shortlist too. Ultimately, it really depends on how geeky you want to get with your coffee. I wouldn't go cheaper than the OXO myself and obviously don't think it's worth spending more than the Encore unless you want to do espresso grinds regularly, If the OXO is too pricey, a decent blade grinder will get the job done.

Same one I have. Also had it for years but I’m not a daily coffee drinker.
Still, I love that it can be set and will do the same grind the next time I need it.
I had a blade grinder prior to that and it was always hit or miss getting the timing right.

I highly recommend a burr mill grinder, and they do not have to break the bank. I've been using a Mr. Coffee burr mill grinder for 15 years, and love that I can set the grind fine for espresso, course for french press, or anything in between.

They've restyled it to be more rounded and metallic than when I got mine at Target, but they still sell one for $35:

Bodum makes a burr mill grinder that sells for $50, and I've liked all the Bodum presses and such that I've had over the years.

I also have Cuisinart Burr Grinder, have had it for years and it still keeps on tickin. It did give me scare a few weeks back, but just needed to be cleaned out a bit, something got stuck near the grinder and wouldn’t allow beans to fall down and grind. But, all good again!

I don’t know if this is cheap or expensive, I bought it through a program my company has with points. Glad I have it!

If you want something that will do more than grind coffee, consider a Vitamix. Mrs. CN has one that you couldn't pry out of her cold, dead fingers. As an accessory you can get a dry blender. Grinds coffee quite well, as well as other dried products (we use it to make our garlic and onion powders.) It will also make smoothies and 'green' drinks, which she does often. Doesn't make beer, so no interest from me!
