Editorial from a Sad, Ol Hillbilly

I've waited several days to try an regain a calm, cool, collective, an rational head, so that I did not lash out violently an viciously, as I am notoriously wont to do, when angered, or betrayed...

The events that transpired a few days ago here disturbed, disappointed, an saddened me greatly.

I'm very happy that they (eventually) seemed to come to a peaceful accord, an without significant escalation, as I found, (an still find) myself increasinly not wantin to be here, or participate, like I did, before...

I found th whole affair to be extremely loathsome, an repugnant. I ain't pointin no fingers at nobody, it's simply how it all makes me feel...

I remain hopeful that, given some time, these feelins will fade into obscurity - distant smoke on th horizon, then gone, ferever...but fer now, "Th Ol' Place' jus ain't quite th same".

It feels somehow tainted, like yer house feels to ya, after sombody's broken into it. Once yer safe haven, yer inner sanctum has been violated, yer only left with "After", an a fervent longin fer "Before"...

I apologize fer bein less actively involved, but this has really been buggin me, an I needed to say my piece, to hopefully start th healin trend in motion...we'll see how it goes from here, day at a time...

It hearkened me back to a series of phone conversations I had not terribly long ago, with my dear friend, Jon Solberg...I won't tell yall bout alla that, or th advice he give me: personal stuff...

He did tell me, long ahead, of th Path he would soon be takin, even showed me where th Secret Door he'd be usin was located, an gifted me with his spare set of keys. I stuck em in th headboard of my bed, along with various, an asundry other items that haven't seen th light of day in years, an fergot all bout em.

Sadly, 3 days ago, I pulled em out, an clipped em onto th battered ol Okay's Key Safe that's perpetually hung on my belt(s) fer decades, though I'm hopin I won't be needin em, after all...

Anyhow, that's how I feel, right now, an, Dear Friends, I can personally assure all yall, that there is a fact...

    Nighty-night, an pleasant dreams, yall...

Be Nice with each other, Please??? We can work through anything, together, if we put our minds to it!

I now return yall to yer regularly scheduled barbecue programmin, now in progress...

Truer words. Sorry if my handling of the situations contributed to your feelings. But we have to remember our Guidelines only can reach so far. Free speech, opinions, passive-agressiveness, opportunities to teach/learn/defend/fail..

I found myself feeling as you describe. I have a whole lot of “Irons in the Fire” that keeps me pretty busy so it was easy for me to just let things roll along and hope some civility and understanding would prevail. @Mr Bones I hope you heal ok and get back to feeling comfortable here again. You would be missed if you cant. I hope everybody here can feel comfortable here always.

Mr. Bones I’ve not been on much lately, so I don’t know about any ruckus, but it makes me sad. Praying the road to peace and healing is as straight as a bronto bone and as fast as lighter fluid on charcoal!

You’ve been a big part of this community as long as I’ve been here, and it wouldn’t be the same without you!

Disappointments and hurts take time, and reliving them over and over extends the time. I hope you can move past this rapidly. Apparently I missed whatever transpired, but whatever it was I hope it doesn’t keep you from contributing to the Pit!

I dunno. Sometimes things happen. I tried to lighten it up (like the scene from Tombstone where Doc Holliday twirls the cup instead of his gun).

None of it it really matters. Every day is a new beginning. Try to make this the best world it can possibly be. Even if all you can do is smile.

The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

                            the good one grill

The Good-One Open Range is a charcoal grill with an offset smoke chamber attached. It is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. The grill sits low in front and doubles as a firebox for the smoke chamber which is spliced on above and behind so it can work like a horizontal offset smoker only better. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.

                            Pit Barrel Cooker Smoker

Griddle And Deep Fryer All In One

The flat top does the burgers and the fryer does the fries. Use the griddle for bacon, eggs, and home fries. Or pancakes, fajitas, grilled cheese, you name it. Why stink up the house deep frying and spatter all over? Do your fried chicken and calamari outside. Blackstone's Rangetop Combo With Deep Fryer does it all. Plus it has a built in cutting board, garbage bag holder, and paper towel holder. An additional work table on the left side provides plenty of counter space.

The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It is absolutely positively without a doubt the best bargain on a smoker in the world. Period. This baby will cook circles around the cheap offset sideways barrel smokers in the hardware stores because temperature control is so much easier. Best of all, it is only $299 delivered to your door!

The Swiss Army Knife Of Thermometers

                            Placeholder

The smart folks at ThermoWorks have finally done it: The Swiss Army Knife of thermometers, two in one. Start with the industry standard food thermometer, the Thermapen MK4, (Platinum Medal winner) truly instant (2 to 3 seconds) precise (+ or – 0.7°F). Then they built in an infrared thermometer ideal for measuring the temps of pizza stones, griddles, and frying pans (also great for finding leaks around doors and windows in your house).

Click here to read our test results and comprehensive review and why it won our Platinum Medal.

                            NK-22-Ck Grill

Their NK22CK-C Charcoal Kettle Grill puts a few spins on the familiar kettle design. In fact, the hinged lid with a handle on the front, spins in a rotary motion 180 degrees. It's hard to beat a Weber kettle, but Napoleon holds its own and adds some unique features to make the NK22CK-C a viable alternative.

GrillGrates(TM) amplify heat, prevent flareups, make flipping foods easier, keep small foods from committing suicide, kill hotspots, are easier to clean, flip over to make a fine griddle, and can be easily removed and moved from one grill to another. You can even throw wood chips, pellets, or sawdust between the rails and deliver a quick burst of smoke to whatever is above. Every gas grill needs them.

                            Professional Steakhouse Knife Set

                            masterbuilt gas smoker

Our founder, Meathead, wanted the same steak knives used by steakhouses such as Peter Luger, Smith & Wollensky, Morton's, Kobe Club, Palm, and many others. So he located the manufacturer and had them stamp our name on some. They boast pointed, temper-ground, serrated, high-carbon stainless-steel, half-tang blades with excellent cutting edge ability. The beefy hardwood handle provides a comfortable grip secured by three hefty rivets. He has machine washed his more than 100 times. They have never rusted and they stay shiny without polishing. Please note that we do not make, sell, or distribute these knives, they just engrave them with our name.
