FACT :-
MCS is real
Hurrying home he was glad the sh**ty day that had gotten progressively worse was nearly at an end. He was looking forward to a chilled beer and a sneaky look at all his cookers on the deck before the family got home. The radio advert announced special deals on all BBQ equipment and he was no longer listening to the radio with half an ear.
The day’s disasters were overshadowed by the thought of adding something to his collection of equipment.
Within seconds of the family arriving home it became obvious to them that he was going to try and justify something.
“I’ve just heard on the radio about fantastic deals at the All Goods Store”
The family was fine with the fact that he gets excited at hearing about BBQ related equipment and they totally got it, they understood his reasons.
A true family is one that knows everything about you, and still loves you, but question your sanity at times. We need family to keep checks and balances on us, to help keep our MCS in perspective and rein in our desire to own everything BBQ.
At times he would think they were wrong, he was just a victim. All of us in the Pit, all of us are victims of MCS. Our love of BBQ defines us in ways that are not always obvious. On occasions when you read something on AR or a Pit Post you have a light bulb moment. When suddenly it all makes sense and you can justify everything.
“Do you really need more stuff?”
He reminded them how much they enjoyed stuffing their faces with the labour of his love.
“Can you tell us what it is you really need?”
A long silence as he rummaged in his mental notes for something.
“I don’t think I can decide until I’ve seen exactly what’s on offer” he said and mumbled to himself along the lines of nobody understands.
“So what happened today that you feel you need to buy more equipment?”
“I just feel there’s a good deal to be had” the days hardships forgotten.
He was approaching the store and a warm feeling rose in his belly.
The store was bright. He could smell the equipment from the entrance door.
His heart quickened as he neared the Outdoor Department. You’re going to be Ok he reassured himself.
The $30 price tag on one of the items he sensed was a good deal. Moving further down Isle One he made out another good deal and then another. When he got to the end of the isle he stopped and just stood.
“May I be of any assistance Sir?” the friendly bearded face asked. “Sir” awaiting a response and then urged the customer “Follow me”.
Some of the finest BBQ specimens were displayed in Isle 2.
There’s just not enough room on my deck he thought to himself.
“Would you leave me to look around for a while” he asked the bearded man “I’ll give you a shout”
He looked up and he saw it on the far side of the Isle.
His pulse quickened and his face broke into a big smile as he realised his MCS would be satisfied, for now.
