Never Fear, Spring Is Almost Here !!!

With polar vortex sub zero temps and feet of snow socking in the North, never fear spring is almost here. How do I know this? Here in the South the very first advent of spring occurs with the blooming of the azaleas and certain succulents. Here are some of mine that began blooming here in early February.

Hang in there guys and gals, you’ll be back in full smoking swing real soon ....

Hahaha, I wish. I do appreciate your optimism!

However, I know we still have at least 2 months left. Heck, last year we got 20 inches of snow in April.

Yep - I see the weeds are coming out all over here on mid west coast. Crocuses are up and ready to bloom when the sun shines.

It's time to get the hummingbird feeders ready. I like watching them chase each other away from the feeders in the morning.

Haha! It's hilarious how they spend all their time defending "their" feeder when there is plenty for all. Fun fact: the sugary hummingbird feeder nectar is a small percentage of their diet in real life.

As Spin said we still have a good two months of winter left, but the worst is over as far as temps go. Polar vortexes don’t come out in late Feb or March, I know cuz my buddie said so. We’ll probably get a bit of snow yet especially in March, I know that cuz my buddie told me. But, as the T man says, we’re on the downside, spring is comin.

Yippee! It's warm here today (60°F) and the next two days are to be even warmer. I plan on cleaning my Summit gasser really well and then adding my new wall-to-wall Grill Grates to it, in between doing loads of laundry ( ).

Yeah, Troutman, I wonder how I'll like the fitted GGs. I may resort back to 1/2 like you have. Worst case I can always go back to the sit-on-top-of-the-Weber-grate GGs I bought a few years ago if I'm not happy.

The Good-One Open Range is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.
