ID:	629920FACEPALM: Ariana Grande Gets Tattoo In Japanese. It Doesn't Say What She Thinks It Does.

Pop singer Ariana Grande wanted to get "7 rings" in Japanese tattooed on the palm of her hand to celebrate her latest hit single. And, fittingly, a hyped Grande took to social media on Tuesday to show off the new ink.

Only, the tattoo didn’t say what Grande thought it said; her Japanese-speaking fan base quickly informed her that the tattoo means BBQ grill in Japanese.

Grande quickly deleted the embarrassing Instagram post.

I wonder what it spells backwards? Maybe cook a bunch for me?

In all due respect it was close, 7 rings - bbq Grill. I mean they probably sound closely alike in Japanese.

        BBQ grill?

"llirg QBB", best as I can reckon; I'm no perfessional linguist...

Second best guess'd haveta be "rings 7"...

          SOUS VIDE

OK fact check, here is what the old interweb translator says BBQ Grill is in Japanese .....

バーベキューグリル ...that doesn't look like what's on her hand tattoo. So why the discrepancy? Polarbear777 hit the nail on the head. The two characters apart mean "7 Rings" but shown together they talk about a small tabletop cooker similar to a Hibachi. She should have had additional characters between the two she tattooed to read, 七つの指輪 which would have translated correctly. Now aren't you glad good Professor Troutman is here to learn ya about this utter nonsense?

Kind of like the old joke where the woman takes a menu from a Chinese Restaurant to a tattoo shop and gets 2 characters from the cover of the menu tattooed on her, only to later learn they mean "cheap" and "good"
