In a normal winter, in my part of Alaska, ice storms are infrequent. When we do get them, it's usually an El Nino event of some kind(like this year). We usually get snow, followed by cold. Then, more cold. Then ,if it warms up, more snow.

My PBC is buried for the season, but my husband and son dug out the Weber Genesis and Primo Jr. They were rewarded with strip steaks on the GrillGrates for Valentine's Day (it was snowing hard!). We've all got cabin fever!

I keep my Weber gasser in the garage and use it year round. The performer mostly gets mothballed for the winter although I have used it 3 or 4 times this winter up here in chilly Michigan. I got a "mini" 14.5" WSM for Christmas and I've used it twice under horrible weather conditions.

I adamantly second Steve R's sentiment: enough with the snow and frigid cold already. Let's get grilling and smoking!

I love grilling and smoking in snowy weather. Of course, I like doing many things in snowy weather. We haven't had our usual cold and deep snow this year. Bummer. A bit of snow, and only one short cold snap. El Nino strikes again. We get one of these milder winters every 12 years or so, and I hate 'em. Freezing rain instead of snow, windy and warm changing to windy and cold; horrible for my perennial plants and trees. I hope our summer is better.

Nah, we just figure that if you can't get out of it, get into it.

I pinched that line from an old Kris Kristofferson movie. After hearing that, my older brother informed me that it was a well used saying in his unit in Vietnam.

Ok we have to shovel the walks and driveway..... but the roof.... tomorrow I will shovel the roof then go to Home Depot and purchase 3 sheets of plywood to make a shed for my smoker (saw it somewhere on this site), then Sunday we smoke (and race). Anymore snow can just melt from now on....

Storm is moving out of the Boston area by about noon on Sunday. Not sure that helps, but I'm with you on having to cook something outside this weekend!

I'm with Strat. Last year or the year before I started to cook something EVERY storm. My FB friends knew if I posted a pic, it was snowing, or, if it was snowing, food porn would be posted. Trying to keep it up this year. Steve R and Carolts, I am south of you in northern VA,, your next storm is just rolling in here. Snowing aloft but not reaching the ground (Virgo). Stopped by 2 grocery stores this morning but only found a pack of 4 beef short ribs at half price (were $4.99). So today I'll be doing a spatchcocked chicken on the Weber kettle. Might smoke the short ribs and some beef back ribs I have on hand Sunday. Check that, reaching the ground as I typed.
