    Sleep apnea

I’ve been reluctant to comment on my condition I’ve been tired for a very long time and it’s gotten worse. I’ve done a home sleep study and I failed. It’s a relief knowing that lm not going crazy and there is a reason for total lack of zip I can and do Knapp all the time. According to the study I quit breathing a average 20 times a hour when a sleep. It has totally Affected My Life Work And play I going after the 1st of the year to find the cpac machine and mask. Not looking forward to the habit of sleep gear but I’m looking forward a rest full night sleep.

Agreed. My experience with sleep study centers (through 2 family members) is they are there primarily to sell you a CPAP. They do not give you the in depth help you NEED.

I went through your struggle several years ago. Dreaded it, but the CPAP mask has made a world of difference. It takes a while to adjust and get the fit right, but you will be amazed at the sleep difference, and comfort to sleep partner.

Don't hesitate, Fire Art . It's totally worth any small hassle the machine may be. You won't regret it.

Man, I love my CPAP. Used to be that people would take bets on how long I would make it before going to sleep in meetings; hasn't happened since I got the machine. I've had it for around 8 or 9 years now. It took several visits to the techs to get the right mask, but once I got it I was set. And my sleep dr told me I had the worst case he had seen - stopped breathing a ridiculous number of times an hour, something like 60. Added bonus - I haven't had a hangover since I got the thing, and I have tried to induce one (not on purpose, I don't think) a couple of times.

Good luck. It is a relief getting a diagnosis. I think my daughter suffered from it but was never diagnosed with it. She used to snore something fierce and I could tell she would stop breathing for periods of time. She was tired all of the time and knew she wasn't getting sleep. She had a really deviated septum which she had work on. When she visits now I don't hear her through the walls and she says that she feels much more rested than when she was younger.

Wow! Amazing you brought this up. My sons mother in law had a terrible sleep apnea issue. She never would go in and get it diagnosed and her daughter was on her all the time about it. She would sleep on our couch on occasion when over indulging at one of our BBQ festivities at the house. It was damn disturbing listening to her sleep! Snore then stop breathing for what seemed like a long time and then finally a big gasp of air and then repeat the whole process.

Long story short. We buried her at 56 years of age on December 14th. She went into the hospital for back surgery which went fine. Her daughter told the doctors that she had a bad sleep apnea issue. They confirmed it by monitoring her the night before surgery and her oxygen levels dropped below 60! So she was administered oxygen at night prior and post surgery. She had surgery on Saturday and they moved her to the rehab floor on Wednesday. Somehow the sleep apnea issue and the need for oxygen and monitoring never followed her to the rehab floor.

She was still on some pretty heavy pain killers at that time. She basically fell asleep in the afternoon and stopped breathing in a sleep apnea episode and never woke herself up to start breathing again. The pain killers apparently had her in such a deep sleep she didn't wake up so she was without oxygen for anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes.

They took her off support the following Sunday. Sad sad story.

Sorry to hear Frozen Smoke. This a wake up call for those sitting on the fence about it. The chance of stroke, high blood pressure, heart desease, and sudden cardiac arrest increases if not taken care of.

Sorry to hear about that, but it is a serious condition. My wake up came when my cousin and his wife, a dr and nurse couple, slept down the hall from me at a family gathering. They both told me to get help immediately. They convinced me of the seriousness of the condition.

Obesity and neck size are definitively a factor, in fact a large factor if I'm being honest. Slimming down if at all possible is a big help for a multitude of health reasons.

I worry about my son. Even when slender (and very muscular) he had a neck 18 inches or more. Gets it from his mother's side. But I have never noticed him snoring, and his wife hasn't noticed any issues.

For any of you that served in the military, and have always snored, it is likely that you had obstructive sleep apnea your entire life. There is evidence that military service exacerbates the undiagnosed condition. This makes it very likely that the VA will cover everything related to your sleep apnea AND that you will qualify for some degree of disability coverage, as well.

It’s a lot of pain and effort, but I would recommend working through the VA process

I have sleep apnea, and like klflowers would fall asleep in work meetings if I was not actively participating, very embarrassing. Wife couldn’t sleep due to my snoring and most nights I would end up on the couch with the dog as she would keep pushing/shoving/hitting me to make me stop my earth shaking snoring. I had many more events an hour than you - 50 I think was the number.

CPAP changed my life. I sleep, I am rested and don’t EVER fall asleep unless in bed with the CPAP on. The wife gets sleep, and it’s just an all around win for all of us in quality of life.

The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

                        the good one grill
The Good-One Open Range is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.
