    Guy's Ranch Kitchen...

I've caught the show a couple of times and it's ok. Kind of disconnected with different chefs cooking unrelated dishes and bouncing back and forth between them it just never really comes together.

But that kitchen! I can't take my eyes off it!! This isn't even half of it but he's got it all going on with wood fired ovens, several Santa Maria's, griddles gas stoves you name it. Beautiful place!

        It is a dream kitchen.
That pedal on the floor that operates tap at his sink is really cool.
Us third world.... would think so.

I'm not even listening to the dialogue when the show is on I'm just taking in that kitchen. I noticed today the wheel on one of his Santa Maria's looked to be made of some exotic wood. Wonder what it must be like to have the means to indulge all of your MCS deepest desires?

He’s had his show Guy’s Big Bite for a long while cooking in both that awesome outdoor, as well as his killer indoor kitchen. One of the few chefs actually still cooking on the Food Network. FN has turned into a glorified game show channel. Pity.

Man ain't that the truth Troutman ! They are totally wasting the talent of Tyler Florence! Tyler Florence The Ultimate show was my favorite he was always making some great recipes that a guy could do without a bunch of exotic ingredients. Now he's on the Food Truck Race and The Worst Cooks In America.

We were in Bonefish last night usin' up some coupons. It was crowded and we wound up sitting at the bar with a tv right in front of us. Guy was on going to some D D and Ds. He happened to go to one of our favorite Outer Banks NC restaurants that is not even close to one of the "Ds". The show did not show any dish I have ever had there...
They do have one of my all time favorite shrimp apps - shrimp wrapped in some very fine noodles and deep fried. It comes with a great dippin' sauce. Almost forgot - the restaurant is The Black Pelican.

I was watching TFN when it first started and Emeril had a show called How to Boil Water. He was my guy - I used to try his recipes all the time. I liked Sarah Moulton - I have one of her cookbooks. Bobby Flay and Jack McDavid had a show called Grillin and Chillin that was pretty funny. And of course Alton Brown and his Good Eats. Now you get endless reruns of DDD (I try and hit some of those places when we travel though - a favorite is Harolds in Gaffney, SC). It is a shame.

They had a major change in management and brought in some marketing guru who changed the format to attract people who were more interested in being entertained than in being educated. It increased their ratings and viewer count but ran off people like us.

gcdmd, that it did. TFN used to be my must see tv. It started going downhill with Rachel Ray, IMO.

If you have a Weber Kettle, you need the Slow 'N' Sear

                slow n sear
The Slow 'N' Sear turns your grill into a first class smoker and also creates an extremely hot sear zone you can use to create steakhouse steaks.

The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

                the good one grill
The Good-One Open Range is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.

Griddle And Deep Fryer In One

                Pit Barrel Cooker Smoker
The flat top does the burgers and the fryer does the fries. Use the griddle for bacon, eggs, and home fries. Or pancakes, fajitas, grilled cheese, you name it. Why stink up the house deep frying and spatter all over? Do your fried chicken and calamari outside. Blackstone's Rangetop Combo With Deep Fryer does it all!

The Pit Barrel Cooker May Be Too Easy

                Pit Barrel Cooker Smoker
The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It is absolutely positively without a doubt the best bargain on a smoker in the world. Period. This baby will cook circles around the cheap offset sideways barrel smokers because temperature control is so much easier.
