O The last of old time baseball.

Minutes away from listening to what may be the last of the old past time, Bob Uecker calling a ball game. He may be one of the last of the greats. Scully, Harwell, Caray, Buck, Allen to name a few are retired or gone. 620 am, don’t know what the dot com or stream is. But I’m going to enjoy.

Marty Brennaman in Cincinnati and Joe Castiglione in Boston are in that category. Pat Hughes in Chicago will be there with a little more time. Uecker's home run call is a lighted sign in left field and he has a statue at Miller Park. Legend, indeed. Love baseball on the radio. Ok, I love baseball in any form.

Baseball was good to you in that first inning! Made my first trip to Miller Park last year to see the Reds (we live in Chicago, easy trip). Good yard. Great town.

As a lifelong Angels fan (I was born in Orange, CA, and lived just a couple miles from Anaheim stadium as a young child), I hate the Dodgers.

Two years ago ago my wife and I found ourselves in Milwaukee for a conference, and had some free time our last day in town. So, naturally, we hit the Brewers game.

What a a great park, and what great people! We fell in love...I almost bought a Brewers hat. I’ll keep cheering for them in the postseason as long as they’re in it!

Bob Uecker is a State treasure here in Wisconsin. Simply one of the best ever baseball announcers. He is at his best in later innings when there is a lopsided score that leads to lots of airtime to fill and he starts telling stories. Here is his HOF induction speech: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7dG5HCKeWA Priceless.

As a NorCal lad it was Russ Hodges and Lon Simmons. There was something magical about tuning in a transistor radio to KNBR 680 AM for a Giants broadcast. I can still see Dad's radio, covered with sawdust and a cobweb or 2, on a shelf in his workshop. Mays and McCovey and Bobby Bonds, the Alou Brothers, Orlando Cepeda, Marichal and Perry. Great memories.

I second the mention of Marty Brennaman on 700 am. I often will watch my reds on TV while listening on the radio. He also used to do college basketball on the radio and painted an amazing picture especially for basketball over the radio.

A fellow Reds fan! I thought I was the only one in The Pit. Marty is a terrific basketball announcer. He called Laetner's buzzer beater in the '92 regional final vs KY on radio. I grew up in Indianapolis and he was the Pacers TV voice for one season.

If you have a good announcer like some of the old timers, you can have a better understanding & feel for the game unlike any other sport. Baseball & radio were made for each other. I feel something is lost watching it on telebision. There are two best ways, be there or radidio.

          the good one grill
The Good-One Open Range is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker.
