Buck Flicks didn't notice it except when shampooing, so I shaved my head. ;o)

I'm sorry you're having to deal with that, JGo37. We can't make rules to protect against TBI and concussions for warfare, but we can make rules for sports.
I agree with your assessment that football was more entertaining decades ago. At least it was to me, when I was a child in the 70s and early 80s. That also may be that I just got more excited about football as a child than I do now.

Buck Flicks I can't close my eyes and turn around or I'll fall down, which actually only bothers me in the shower, where it's scary. I don't know if it's from the early (HS/ College), or late years. It may be from service. I think vets that have multiple exposures to concussive explosives have more CTE than anyone, and it isn't a topic yet. I've done both.

I got the rare privilege to meet and chat with Bum at his book signing for his book "He Ain't No Bum" . Quite a character and as you say great coach. Just never could bring them Oilers to the top of the mountain. Those AFC championship games against Pittsburgh in the mid to late 80s WAS the Super Bowl as far as I was concerned. FireMan

I think the rules for the safety and health of the players are good. I don't care if anyone thinks it's wussifying the sport. I'd rather guys not have to suffer CTE for the rest of their lives after a 5 year NFL career. Sorry if you don't like that, but it's just better. You may not see the bone-crunching hits you used to, but then again, you don't see any Darryl Stingley injuries anymore either.

Yeah... NLF's ratings have been taking a dip, but that's largely due to so many other things being on TV. There were a few who took a year off due to anthem-gate but they'll be back. But no sport in the US matches the NFL for ratings or attendance. Worldwide, soccer beats it, but the NFL is up there - which is surprising given the lack of any teams outside the US.
-
I saw some team doing this during a rain delay on the tarp... they got the grounds crew push brooms, and a player slid down the tarp like it was a slip-n-slide. It was pretty funny. I don't remember who it was. Might have even been a minor league team.

Given the NFL's roughing the passer rules, FireMan is proposing the following: All charging fouls in the NBA should result in an an automatic ejection. MLB - Any batter who is pitched inside should be awarded 1st base. Anyone who goes two games above .500 in any league will automatically forfeit two wins. With this rule in effect, nobody should slip to two games below.

Respectfully disagree on the death bell secanrio. Ratings over the top. New Blood, KC and LAR. Fantasy. As an old timer, who as a kid went to Yankee Stadium to watch Y.A., Frank Gifford and others in the late 50's. The Ice Bowl Packers/Cowboys. I know the game has changed. So has a lot of other stuff. Now, I have stayed out of the fray. As a Pat's fan know the hate is there. The KC/Pats a !!!!!

The mediocrity is not necessarily in the players, but the coaches. And, what would be new?
NO is cutting edge on offense - "Gun King Trips Right 50 SwayON Go Special X Shallow Cross H Wide". It shows in the points they put up.
Will Gruden get Carr to learn this scheme and stop throwing INT's? I doubt it.
I miss the 60's when there were 3 cameras and you could see the whole field on TV. Of course, there weren't 7 covers with a Tampa 2 and shell zone variants. There weren't 5 pro sets with spread variants, A-11 with an APB slot, and a Jet sweep. Lesser teams have moved to younger mobile QB's to run college-style options - but that won't get you to the Super Bowl.
Maybe the game itself is burning out? If Brady ever played against Lott or Tatum, he would never complete a pass to Gronk in the middle of the field. If he did, Gronk would retire if he could still think. That part of the game has been ruled out.
I can hear the NFL Death Bell. That's why the league has to go International. Or maybe all we need it bigger stadiums, and more concessions and parking sales.
Oh - wait a minute! I maybe have an idea here - merchandizing?

Hey the Astros ( that would be THE Soon to Repeat World Champion Houston Astros) did a skit in their dugout after a Bregman home run where they led him down the dugout run sweeping the floor with bats like a curling team. I thought it was humorous and further endeared me to the love of my now second favorite sport....curling !!!
