Hello from Minnesota! He, he, he.

Well I am here the Great State of 1000 lakes less than Wisconsin. Nice place to visit, but, I miss my CI skillets, my Wok, My Weber K & most of all my Napolean. My wife volunteered my services for the back strap on Fri, then all cooking was inherited. My step son has a 2 yr old Weber Genesis.
Yesterday I’m doing brats & burgers for wife’s son, and her bros & sis’s. My step son steps next to me as I’m cooking, still marveling at the Fri night Back Strap episode & sheepishly says I’ve never cleaned this since I got it. Silence, for about 3 seconds, then I turned to him & said “I know, I’ve cleaned it since I’ve been here”. He thanked me saying “he just doesn’t have time for that”.
My findings of the Genesis is, I don’t like the grates, they look like they are CI and are big & flat. It just doesn’t seem to get very hot, even with the sear station. In cooking the back strap venison, all I did was cook it over high with the sear on until I brought it to 128 F, flipping frequently. Took awhile, longer than I thought. I will take my sear sideburner of Napolean over the Web every day. Just from the other cooking, with no telemetry & gadgets my Rogue gets hotter also. My findings are by “feel” & timing, not scientific.
We will be leaving “The Cities” this noon, heading to Red Wing for 2 days. Than back home to my cookin gear. I did bring my Thermapen.

Welcome to Minnesota! Your travels are taking you far south of my neck of the woods in the best part of the state! Too bad otherwise I'd invite you for a stop over and a couple of Minnesota Big Friendly beer also known as Grain Belt and would throw some piece of meat on the stick burner.

I get a headache when I get south of Hinckley and it doesn't clear up until I'm about 2 hours south of the Cities!

It is the cook and not the cooker, but some cookers are more fun, easier to work with and produce better results - like the ones at your house.

You ok, FireMan? I saw there was some pretty gnarly wind up in Red Wing yesterday, with some impressive damage.
