    Sick Momma

My mom is pretty sick - stage 3 Myeloma. My 10 year old son wants to help grandma so he came up with the idea of a lemonade stand that we publicize on social media.. His idea is that he will give customers a free lemonade if they donate to his grandma. He asked if i can cook so if course i said yes. Pulled Pork sandwiches are a given, they taste great and are economical. Not everyone eats pork though. Any thoughts on other low cost bbq that i can whip up for our fund raiser?

Sorry about you mother. Hope she does well. As Jimmy V. said is his ESPY speech in 93', "Don't give up. Don't ever give up". As far as other food, how about chicken. Pretty inexpensive. Maybe a mix of thighs, wings and drum sticks. Best wishes to you and your family.

I would just stick with the pork sandwiches, make it easy on yourself, you sound like you have a TON on your plate right now.

I am very sorry to hear about your mom. These things are never easy for anyone. This is a great thing you are doing for your mother, but maybe more importantly, you are doing this for your son too. And I am sure your mother will be proud of you and very touched by the gesture. Best of luck to you and your family.

Sorry about your mom. It's touching how your son wants to do something to help your mom...and how you want to do something to help your son help your mom! I always love chicken thighs. Cost efficient and efficient on the smoker.

Very sorry about mom. I could think of nothing better at a lemonade stand than chicken wings - a bit on the spicy side, that beg for not just one, but two glasses of lemonade. A video of the stand and sales would be great, as well!

What a sweet child you have; a little guy with a big heart. You've raised him well, tenphases .

All the best to your Mom as she continues to fight her noble battle, and may your BBQ fundraiser turn out stupendous.

Best wishes, it’s tough, you’re doing the right thing on all accounts. I’m with Spinaker, KIS. Don’t worry if some body doesn’t like this or that (let’s not go down the vegetaranian thing). Work hard.

I like jlazar 's idea of a pot of sloppy joes on the side, if you really want a second option. Easy peasy. You can use the same buns as for the PP.
