I wouldn't have started the topic if it wasn't great.

Hey great, another vegetaranian bites the dust.
She makes a great point about taste a juicy. Have you ever heard anyone go “hmmmm, oh so good” eating a vegetable, and make a face of satisfaction? One exception, if the veggies have bacon in them & lots of butter.

I was gonna say corn on the cob with butter, S&P! Eggplant parmesan done right? Shrooms - with butter, S&P. Hmn, a trend seems to be appearing!

EdF you are not to something with the butter, cheese etc. What about the world veganarians live in. No butter, no cheese, no cream, let alone no meat. They probably never get to say hmmm good.

I was macrobiotic for 7-8 years - you can be a "vegetarian" without the restrictions of being a "vegan".

save the world? What do they think will happen to all the cattle, whos exsistance is solely for beef and milk, when they are no longer profitable for ranchers, and dairy farmers? They will all be killed off to use the pastureland for crops, or neglected and stop being fed. Never understood that part of the argument.

I suspect they're thinking about the massive methane emissions. ;-)

One daughter was for a time vegetarian. She had been our biggest meat eater, then, in protest over the sustainability of agriculture, made that decision. When she was in Guyana, largely a Hindu population, it was probably just as well. However, while she was there, she had digestive issues which were getting progressively worse. No, it wasn't the vegetables that were attacking her, but it was the wheat in her diet. Turned out to have ciliac, very sensitive to gluten. Also have a daughter in law who is gluten intolerant, but she can still have small amounts of gluten. Daughter has big problems if she ingests a crumb of bread. Had both of them living at our house for a while, and our daughter decided she was having enough dietary issues, trying to get the nutrients she needed with the gluten issue, and the vegetarianism was just no longer worth it. She now happily eats meat with the rest of us. Funny thing is that when she decided to be a vegetarian, her younger brother, who would always eat his vegetables first, and eat his meat if he was still hungry when the vegetables were gone, decided he was going to eat her meat and his. He kept that up, even when she started eating meat again.
OTOH, their older sister, who spent a couple of years in Kenya, enjoyed going to The Carnivore restaurant in Nairobi whenever she got the chance, and ate all kinds of exotic meat.
