Dammit, my glass patio table shattered.

Im really good about lowering the umbrella, too. I checked today’s forecast, winds 3-5mph. I ate breakfast on the deck, it was still. Then Mrs Mosca came home for lunch, and texted me this picture. Looks like I got some cleaning up to do.

Sorry to hear this. We had the same thing happen a number of years ago. I checked the price of a replacement top, and it was more than we paid for the table. My solution was to cut a piece of plywood to fit and drill a hole for the umbrella. My wife found a nice outdoor tablecloth with a hole in the center. However, I do store the plywood indoors to prevent warping.

All that patio stuff is on sale now, we are going to get a cheap table to finish out the summer then get a good one next spring when the selection is better. I’m just pissed about cleaning up all that glass.

By law, (or regulation), tabletops must be made with safety glass - the same as vehicle side windows. That prevents anyone from being skewered by a large shard of glass.

12 years ago we had a high school girl in to big a hurry to use the break bar on a glass door at church. That's when we found out the building, put up 50 years ago, did not have safety glass in the doors. Fortunately, the gash in her wrist missed all the important parts.
When the glass was replaced, BOTH sides were replaced with safety glass.

Ouch! I had that happen once, and the wind had slammed it down so that most of the glass fragments were in the grass next to the patio. I spent hours with a shop vac sucking chunks of glass out of the grass. I replaced it with one of those wrought iron and expanded metal tables, along with a set of those springy/rocker type wrought iron chairs.

Had almost the exact same thing happen to me several years ago. What a "PITA" getting all that glass up. Haven't even thought about getting another one. Picnic tables and metal sets are the only way to go in my honest opinion.

Gunderich_1 yeah - that glass table was busted by the wind 20 years ago, and I've probably put a coat of spray paint or two on the round metal table that replaced it, and its still going strong.

Tempered glass is very strong and shatter resistant, but obviously, when it does shatter, it does it good. I got tired of buying inexpensive patio sets, and then having to replace them in a few years, so 14 years ago we bought an aluminum set, with the inlaid tile squares. Still looks like new. A few nicks in the paint, and it did come with a tube of touchup paint, but at least where the paint is nicked, there is no problem with rust. The table itself is relatively light, but with the tile in place it's not going anywhere easily.

And yeah, cleaning up that glass is a pain.

The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

                  the good one grill
The Good-One Open Range is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.

Griddle And Deep Fryer In One

                  Pit Barrel Cooker Smoker
The flat top does the burgers and the fryer does the fries. Use the griddle for bacon, eggs, and home fries. Or pancakes, fajitas, grilled cheese, you name it. Why stink up the house deep frying and spatter all over? Do your fried chicken and calamari outside. Blackstone's Rangetop Combo With Deep Fryer does it all!

The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It is absolutely positively without a doubt the best bargain on a smoker in the world. Period. This baby will cook circles around the cheap offset sideways barrel smokers because temperature control is so much easier.
