Been poppin' corn 60+ years. I have even grown my own popcorn. I've never had a problem poppin' corn until I bought the above popper. In the past I have used both electric and microwave poppers with great results.
However, I prefer some of the smaller kerneled white popcorns and they do not pop well in the microwave. If I leave the popper in the microwave long enough to to pop all the kernels, the popped corn will start to burn, so I switched to the above popper. Now the popped corn comes out very tough - almost too tough to chew. Research tells me that the toughness is caused by too much moisture in the popped corn. There's no way to control the moisture in this popper that I can see. I can put the bowl in the microwave for about 1.5 min after it's finished poppin' and then it's edible, but I shouldn't have to do that.
I've tried preheating and not preheating the popper. I've tried poppin' a small amount and a large amount of corn. I also tried just a little oil and a lot of oil. Almost forgot - that I have tried different popcorns too. Nothing worked...
Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm gettin' ready to return this popper....
