    Labor Day BBQ Plans?

    So, what's everyone gonna do for Labor Day cooking? I have neighbors coming over, probably 3 other couples, plus my wife and I ..... Current menu

    Beef short ribs
    Grilled chicken
    Copper River Sockeye (still have one in the freezer)
    Macaroni salad
    Beans of some sort
    Crusty bread
    Green salad
    I'll provide beer and whiskey .... anybody wants something else, they can bring their own

            Wife and I spent 10 weeks in Savannah this spring / summer. It was work for me but we both love that town.
            Never heard of Bacon Fest. Sounds Delicious.

          • Hi, my name is Darrell. I'm an OTR truck driver for over 25 years. During my off time I love doing backyard cooks. I have a 48" Lang Deluxe smoker, Rec-Tec pellet smoker,1 Weber Genesis 330, 1 Weber Performer (blue), 2 Weber kettles (1 black and 1 Copper), 1 26" Weber kettle, a WSM, 8 Maverick Redi Chek thermometers, a PartyQ, 2 SnS, Grill Grates, Cast Iron grates, 1 ThermoPop (orange) and 2 ThermoPens (pink and orange) and planning on adding more cooking accessories. Now I have an Anova sous vide, the Dragon blower and 2 Chef alarms from Thermoworks.

          Going to spend the Labor Day weekend plus a few more days in Missouri with my brother at his lake house on the Lake of the Ozarks. We haven't talk about what to cook yet but we will cook up a few things like ribs, burgers, steaks, etc.

            Excess waiting on a inspection, permit fees and don't forget to clean your dryer vent from the top as well. Do I need to go t the HB Joint powers trainer center for more rig pics? Clean your vent and feed the inspector a half rack.

            Lobster Fest!! Every Saturday of Labor Day weekend in NW Illinois, a local grocery store has Live Maine Lobsters flown in right off of a lobster boat from Maine. They are 1 1/4 lbs each for $9.99 each. The owner has a relative who is the Owner and Captain of the boat. We usually get 10 or more and have quite a party.!!

            I plan on smoking something. Not sure what yet. There will be some salmon and some mixed nuts that will be smoked, but the main course... remains to be seen. Maybe a small brisket.

              Probably going to cook a pork butt for a coworker and myself. Her husband says they will buy the meat anytime I want to cook one and we can split the final product...too good of a deal to pass up...

              If I can get it from my parents to my house this weekend I will also be working on my new OKJ Bandera...Walmart deal was too good to pass up...
