I have a turkey sandwich on whole wheat at 3:30 this morning. Thinking of yogurt and blueberry/plums now.

My favorite breakfast is crisp bacon, grits, eggs over medium mixed into the grits (no true southerner would dare eat grits without mixing fried eggs into them), and biscuits with cane syrup. To drink is a tall glass of cold buttermilk.

Buttermilk you say? That is a true southern breakfast, my friend. I have never had buttermilk with breakfast.

I love what we call, Gas House Eggs. Buttered bread with a whole bit out of the middle. I throw it on a HOT cast iron pan, then crack the egg into the middle. Salt and pepper then flip until toasted. I like the egg to be runny so when you break the yolk just before eating, the buttered bread sucks up the yolk. Yummy stuff. Oh yeah and a side of sausage patties or bacon. My dad used to make this for me and my brothers every Saturday morning. Great memories. It's amazing how we hold on to emerges like that surrounding food.

Also tough to beat Biscuits and Gravy. MMMMMMMMMM,

Gravy was one of the first things I ever learned to make. which is why I was SO DARNED MAD when i finally crewed up the courage to learn to make "Bechamel" sauce, which had intimidated me for YEARS!
