    Chili Cookoff this past weekend...

A few fellas in the Pit were interested to know how I did in a local chili competition this past weekend. My team, Po'House Chili won the People's Choice Award. We didn't place in the judges awards, but that's OK. The people's votes were the ones we were after!

Congrats, Dave! I like that shiny trophy. What's the guy doing on top, jumping for joy and does he also have a spatula or tongs in his hands? Hope so!

Awesome Dave... what was your chili entry like? hot/not hot? beans/no beans?

VERY meaty and just enough spice to know you're eating chili. The crowd at this event is very diverse, so it's a delicate balance to please the majority. We had to make 10 gallons. It contained 22 lbs of cubed choice chuck roast and 10 lbs of course ground sirloin, and yes... a mix of light and dark red kidney beans. I know...

      Great sounding ingredients!

At home I have been made painfully aware to cook for the crowd (victims)... ya did good!

TB I entered two chili cook offs in Texas, both times using beans in my chili. I kept the faith, but lost the cook offs.

We disagree about beans here in Texas but I like beans personally in chili.

Congrats Dave, It is always a good feeling to have the people on your side. And yes, real chili has beans in it. And yes, I am not from the great state of Texas but know some really fine folks from there.
