    Pulled Pork vs. Teeth!

two weeks ago I found a piece of bone in my pulled pork the hardway, and broke a molar in two different directions. It was so bad it had to be pulled. I finally got up the nerve to try some more (what are the odds it would happen again?) and damn if I didn't find another piece! At least I was being careful, so no harm was caused. I'm tempted to throw out the whole batch now.

I am very careful with some of the pork butts I get from one location. They are pretty small just like I like them, however sometimes they'll just have a piece of that shoulder blade just barely hanging on.

That's one of the reasons I pull by hand - I want to feel the meat for safety.

Ditto! I also want to feel for large fat blobs.

I always do it by hand. These pieces were tiny. But big enough...

I usually buy 9 pound boneless butts from my butcher but when I am prepping them I always run my hands/fingers/eyes all around to feel/see if there were any bone fragments left behind.

I couldn't begin to estimate how many cryovacs I've gone thru over the years and this is the first time I've ever had it happen. I'll be checking from now on.

            Wow, thanks for the warning.

I busted a tooth in Africa on a slice of pizza! Luckily there was a dentist office in the lower level of our hotel (Hilton) took me right in and fixed.
Once is more then enough for me.
