Need help with the wife.

So I have a Rec Tec, and 6 burner gasser and a COS Char Griller. Now over the weekend I found someone that had a Weber performer that was lightly used and all they wanted was $40 bucks for it so naturally I picked it up. My thoughts are that I need something that I can take camping and will be easy to get in and out of the pickup. I'm also thinking that if I get a slow n sear that I can get rid of the Char Griller.

The wife isn't gonna see it that way and I can already hear the "what do you need another grill for" speech.

I need to go to Grillers Anonymous.

I have only been married 19 years. I do my best not to meddle with others or give marital advice because every relationship is different. You know your wife far better than any of us, so you may need to tread lightly. I can tell you that my wife asked me why I needed 4 different types of saws (Table, Band, Radial Arm, Finish) for my wood working projects, because "They all cut wood". My response was that they all do cut wood, but in different orientations for different types of cuts and sometimes for different types of materials. I did draw a parallel to shoes with my wife, and she seemed to understand. I just pointed out the differences/features that made the saw different and she no longer questioned the "need". Now you have me thinking I need to go to woodworkers anonymous.

As long as I am not taking up her shoe rack space in the closet with my grills then I don't have t justify why I need another grill, I'm just saying.

Grills anonymous never! I don't have a problem there is a perfectly good reason to have 5,6,7,8 grills uh maybe 9,10 whatever they are all much needed🙄

Tell her that the formula for the number of grills/smokers you need is: n+1. With "n" being the number of grills/smokers you already have.

Seriously though, for around $150 for a Weber performer and and SnS, you have a real kick-ass combo there.

It sure is better than, whimpering & saying, I've got this MCS thing & I can't help my self & you just don't understand. Or worse, hiding it, whatever it may be. I've read where members have hid whole cookers behind the garage, under trash cans or something similar. Let's all stand up for ourselves, be calm, collected & brave. Honey, all saws cut wood & you know all those shoes you got, well, let me tell ya................your feet look mighty good................and I've got a lot of wood to cut! And, about those cookers & stuff......

Serving up some delicious food from those cookers is justification enough. As far as saws and tools, just have your wife help you build a house or do an addition and she will quickly gain a new appreciation for not just the quantity, but the quality of those tools. At least mine did!

MCS... women just do get it.🙄 Once you've got it, figuring out how to get your wife to accept your obsession can be difficult but there's always a way.😎 One must always be thinking up the next scheme to acquire the next cooker. When your wife comes home with a trunk full of new clothes and shoes is a good time to make your move. Her own guilt will soften her comments.😉

The easiest way, I have found, is to find something that is MORE expensive than what you want to get and then start talking it up. Do it so often that she rolls her eyes and says "You have lost your (insert adjective) mind. There is no (insert another adjective) way you are spending that much on another BBQ." Then accidentally find the one you want for "1/2 the price." Tell her you don't want to settle on that but finally just say "OK, for you I am going with the cheaper model." It works a lot better than getting on the floor and stomping around like a kid. That only gets you on her Facebook page with tons of laughter.

I think she will be able to appreciate you getting rid of the Char-griller. Anytime one of those hits the dump.....its a good thing!

here's my idea. fire up your grills, mix her a beverage of choice, then YOU take care of dinner on how ever many cookers needed from apetizers to dessert. we're talking the whole nine yards, here. that may cover you.

My favorite store when we lived in Alabama was one called Gold and Golf. The husband ran a golf shop up top and the wife ran a jewelry store on the bottom. The owner told me that in 10 years not a day went by where they didn't hear, "If you're going to buy that, then I'm going to buy that." As someone who has been happily married for 36 years, I realized that a happy wife is happy life. Make her happy and both of your lives will be better. Good luck.

I am reading this and I am asking myself - really, she is going to be upset about you spending $40.00 for another grill? Just tell her you plan to sell one of the other units so you are not adding another toy to the stable. Heck, a decent bottle of booze costs $40.00 so you really aren't breaking the bank. Most of us are thinking you got a great deal and we would have done the same thing. We men don't look at women's preferences any different than they look at ours - never will. I have been married 41 years and sometimes I just have to make myself happy!
