I had a job where I had to put shredded cheese back together.

It was the most de-grating job I’ve ever had.

Why do chicken coops have 2 doors?

Because if they had 4 doors, they would be chicken sedans.

A mother gives birth to twin boys, but is unable to care for them so she gives them up for adoption. One boy gets adopted by a family who lives in Egypt, and they name the boy Amal. The other baby boy gets adopted by a family who lives in Spain and they name their baby Juan.

Years later Juan learns he is adopted and begins the process of tracking down his birth mother. Eventually he finds out she is alive and learns where she lives, and he sends her a picture of himself.

The mother is so excited to see her boy all grown up and happy & healthy. She runs to show her husband. But then her husband notices her happiness has quickly turned to sadness. "What's the matter?" he asks her, expecting her to say she regrets giving the boys up for adoption. "I just wish I had a picture of Amal also" she says.

"Why?" he says. "They're twins. If you've seen Juan you've seen Amal."

This is not specifically a joke, but I thought it was funny, and it is also BBQ related.

My sermon this past Sunday was about being Salty. Passage from Mark where Jesus talks about being the salt of the world, if the salt has lost its saltiness, what good is it, etc. So, I explained that smoking meat is a passion of mine, and as part of the process I will apply the salt 24 to 48 hours ahead of time, while the rub can go on just before the meat goes in the smoker. It doesn't matter when the rub goes on, because it's just going to stay on the surface, and it will make a good, tasty crust, but it isn't going to go anywhere. OTOH, the salt goes on early, because it will be absorbed into the meat, into the very cells of the meat, and the more time it has, the deeper it is absorbed. And as it is absorbed, it brings about a change in the cells where it is being absorbed. So, we are to leave the salt shaker of the church, and be absorbed into the community, creating change as we are absorbed.

          OK, sermon over.

After the service my council president admitted to me that on Saturday he had bought a pork butt and a chicken, and as I was preaching about the salt, and meat, and smoking, he thought, "I need to put that chicken in the smoker for dinner tonight." As he was thinking this, his wife turned to him and whispered, "Why don't you smoke that chicken for dinner tonight."

At least I know they were listening up to then.

          Husband:

          My wife is missing.

She went shopping yesterday and has not come home!

          Sheriff: Height?

Husband: I'm not sure. A little over five-feet tall.

          Sheriff: Weight ?

Husband: Don't know. Not slim, not really fat.

          Sheriff: Color of eyes ?

Husband: Sort of brown I think. Never really noticed.

Sheriff: Color of hair ?Husband: Changes a couple times a year. Maybe dark brown now. I can’t remember.

Sheriff: What was she wearing ?

Husband: Could have been pants, or maybe a skirt or shorts. I don't know exactly.

Sheriff: What kind of car did she go in ?

Husband: She went in my truck.

Sheriff: What kind of truck was it ?

Husband : A 2016 pearl white Ram Limited 4X4 with 6.4l Hemi V8 engine ordered with the Ram Box bar and fridge option, led lighting, back up and front camera, Moose hide leather heated and cooled seats, climate controlled air conditioning. It has a custom matching white cover for the bed, Weather Tech floor mats. Trailing package with gold hitch, sunroof, DVD with full GPS navigation, satellite radio, Cobra 75 WX ST 40-channel CB radio, six cup holders, 3 USB port, and 4 power outlets. I added special alloy wheels and off-road Toyo tires. It has custom retracting running boards and under-glow wheel well lighting.

At this point the husband started choking up.

Sheriff: Take it easy sir ,

          we'll find your truck!

When I was in school I used make doodles all over my work. I drew a house that had a sign out front that said "The Dovers- Ben & Eileen". And another that said "Join us for a night of Twister with Eileen Dover and Ben Dover", things like that. I actually made it up, only to find out later it had been thought up and used many times over the years by others, and I was not in fact a comedic genius.

Most ministers would much rather do a funeral instead of a wedding. Here's a good description of why:

An interesting article appeared awhile back in the Clinton SC Chronicle titled “When The Editor Left Town.” It said: “Mr. Jim Galeway and Miss Georgianne Bentlow were married Monday at the home of the bride’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Bentlow, the Rev. A.A. Deckett officiating. The groom is a popular young bum who hasn’t done a lick of work since he got expelled his junior year in college. He manages to dress well and keeps a supply of spending money because his dad is a soft-hearted old fool who takes up his bad checks instead of letting him go to jail where he belongs. The bride is a skinny, fast little idiot who has been kidded by every boy in town since she was 12 years old. She sucks cigarettes and drinks mean corn liquor when she is out joy-riding in her dad’s car at night. She doesn’t know how to cook, sew or keep house. The house was newly plastered for the wedding and the exterior newly painted, thus appropriately carrying out the decorative scheme, for the groom was newly plastered and the bride freshly painted. The groom wore a rented dinner suit over athletic underwear of imitation silk, and his pants were held up by pale green suspenders. His number 9 patent leather shoes matched his state in tightness and harmonized nicely with the axle grease polish of his hair. P.S. This is probably the last issue of this paper, but my life ambition has been to write up one wedding and tell the truth. Now that it’s done, death can have no sting.”

A monocle walks into a bar. After a few drinks he starts to feel pretty good (and a little uncoordinated). He reaches for a cigarette, but the bartender stops him. “Sorry, buddy, but due to city ordinances we don’t allow smoking in here. You’ll have to step outside to smoke.”

So the monocle hops off the bar stool and grabs his cigarettes to head outside. Meanwhile a second monocle emerges from the bathroom. They bump into each other as they cross paths and fall to the floor, hopelessly entangled. They try to get free but the more they struggle, the more tangled they become.

The bartender looks down on this travesty and shakes his head. “Hey you two!” he shouts. “Stop making spectacles of yourselves!”

The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

        the good one grill

The Good-One Open Range is a charcoal grill with an offset smoke chamber attached. It is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. The grill sits low in front and doubles as a firebox for the smoke chamber which is spliced on above and behind so it can work like a horizontal offset smoker only better. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.

Plus it has a built in cutting board, garbage bag holder, and paper towel holder. An additional work table on the left side provides plenty of counter space.

The beefy hardwood handle provides a comfortable grip secured by three hefty rivets. He has machine washed his more than 100 times. They have never rusted and they stay shiny without polishing. Please note that we do not make, sell, or distribute these knives, they just engrave them with our name.
