Mine is scheduled to arrive tomorrow (Wednesday). That gives me 3 days to fondle it before I break it in on Saturday. My current thought is a 5 pound or so pork butt but I'm open to suggestions. Anyone?

Pork butt, Forgiving and tough to screw up. Not a bad idea for a new contraption. The SNS is easy though. You'll do just fine.

Kudos to David (Pit Boss) and Catherine at Adrenaline. I ordered mine last Friday, and it arrived yesterday (Tuesday). It's a beautiful piece of workmanship. Right now it's sitting on the floor next to my desk. Between my part time college teaching job and family obligations, I probably won't get a chance to fire it up for a week or so, unfortunately. I'll post a full review after.

Got my Slow 'n Sear yesterday, got my new Thermapen today and tonight my wife just bought a 4 pound pork butt. She's going to mix up her secret rub (Mama Q's as she likes to call it) and apply it tomorrow so come Saturday it's off to the races with my new toys.
Looking forward to another lazy Saturday morning, afternoon and early evening on the deck drinking a few beers, smoking meat, listening to music and playing fetch with the dog. That's my definition of heaven right there.

I might be screwed for Saturdays cook. The temperature will be fine but we're supposed to have 20 to 30 mph winds with gusts up to 40. That might put a damper on things. I own a steel distribution company so the plan right now is to run into work tomorrow morning, grab some aluminum sheet and see if I can piece together a makeshift wind guard. I've tried it in the past with minimal success, the wind always seems to find a way to flow into the vents and wreak havoc on a steady temperature. We'll see.

It isn't Jaoquin we are getting, Huskee , just a nor'easter. Thankful it is 45*F here in northern, VA. Much colder and we'd have even more troubles.
We had 6" of rain in about 2 hours earlier this week, and it is still raining. No drought here. This is a huge system!
Hope all our east coast brothers and sisters are doing well, and haven't sprung any leaks!

richinlbrg oh ok. I loosely follow the weather reports, thought it was hurricane rain. So that is yet to come, what tomorrow?
-
Huskee , prior to today, nothing to do with the hurricane, today through about Monday is the very outer edge of the hurricane, apparently in combination with the nor'easter. Been some rough flooding in SC, NC and VA. The Notre Dame/Clemson game, to be played in SC (Clemson) is at some risk.

Well, I've made the executive decision to put it off until Sunday when the winds are supposed to die down. Numerous issues with that though too, I'd like to watch the Bears get beat, that starts at noon and I have to watch the Packers win their fourth straight which starts at 3:30. Hmm, maybe I'll pull an all nighter so it's done around 8 in the morning. Anyone going to be on at 3 or 4 in the morning tonight? I might need some conversation to keep me going!

I'm delaying my smoke until Sunday, too. I'm running late on my prep and the weather should be slightly less miserable!

Eric, richinlbrg, Pick up a quart or two of that Mtn. Sunshine, if the wind doesn't drop down and the rain won't quit, You Won't Care! 100 % GUARANTEE 😈👠Dan

The wind & it's 41 out there is jacking me around this morning. I get my temp stable at 225-230 & it shifts...I think I've "goosed" the vents about a half dozen times in the past two hours
Just pulled it back a couple feet into the garage, maybe I can dodge the wind for awhile now.
