OK, anyone with caps or veneers on their teeth know that they are glued in with an adhesive that is set with a UV light. well a couple of dentists decided this adhesive could easily be used for other things. the problem was, having the proper UV light could cost some cash. enter cheaper than dirt LEDs. So, they put together a little 'pen' which is actually an inexpensive squeezable plastic tube with a metal needle tip and cap on one end, the other end has a cheap UV lead bulb powered by the little flat batteries the size of a nickel. a driplet of adhesive, where ever and 5 seconds of the light and you are good to go.
WHY do I post this here? well, when our Sous Vide stick arrived, we grabbed our Stainless Stock Pot (The smallest one) and filled it up. what? the pot has a HOLE in it. a tiny little hole the size of a mechanical pencil lead almost exactly halfway up the side of the pot. CRUD! Welp, go grab the 10 gallon stock pot instead.... FAR more water than I wanted to use OR heat <sigh>
but, when my little adhesive pen showed, I thought, hmmmm...... So, grabbed my smaller stock pot and put a driplet on the inside AND the outside, to create a plug on each side connected through the hole, cured it, and now, my Stock pot is fine, at least for Sous Vide use. and, of course, there will be a kajillion other things this can do. next planned use is to mount a plastic golf tee to a cream whipper nozzle to make donuts but that's another post.
So, if you have something that needs repairing (lost a nose pad on your favorite pair of reading glasses? grab one of these Bondic tools, Amazon carries them, $22 for the complete piece and they also sell refill adhesive tubes as well as replacement light heads. literally, 101 uses!
