Do you live near me? If you do, then my advice is sell the Primo, cheap.
If you live far away, keep it.

mikemackey .
I'd keep your Primo Jr.
Ceramic cookers can do many things no other cooking device can do or do nearly as well. Pizza, bread and woking Chinese food to mention a few.
I agree with Pit Boss . Keep the Primo and buy a kettle for $99 to $149 and get the slow n sear.
Full disclosure... I'm a BGE guy and love ceramic cooking.😎

First of all, Welcome. Secondly, if you have room for the Primo, keep it. If you ever outgrow it you can sell it someone just getting into the hobby that may not have the funds to get one. If grills are at all like firearms?, then there will be a sellers remorse factor to consider. I bought a Weber Kettle 22 for the express purpose of getting and using the SnS. I have a PBC too and while it can grill, it's much better as a long cook smoker. It makes some no fuss killer ribs. Hope this helps.

Boss, I think you took the words right out of my mouth. I once had a Haste Bake and a Wife and Young Son. It just took to much Charcoal to cook
3 - Burgers or 5 - Hot Dogs. Eventually sold it at a Flea Market and bought a 22 1/2" Weber. In fairness it did a beautiful job of cooking larger meals but I wasn't Smoking or making BBQ in those days. Dan

I suggest keeping the Primo and instead buying a Weber kettle and get a slow 'n sear for it. I have the Hasty Bake 256 Gourmet. It's a great grill if money is not a factor, but it uses a lot of charcoal and is pricey.
The primo and kettle with SnS will give you a lot of cooking options.

Keep the Primo or Sell the Primo
Hoping you guys can help me make a decision. First of all a quick thanks to Meathead and staff for for a great website! I am not new to Q, but not a seasoned guy either. I purchased a Primo Jr a couple of years ago, and have done some great cooks with it. However I have branched out some, and am trying other things that don't have the traditional BBQ profile. This leads me to a charcoal grill. After some research and Meathead's review I am thinking Tasty Bake. The Primo just doesn't work well as a "grill", and the Jr is kinda small. As some of you know having a loving spouse requires a majority vote for major purchases as we do not have unlimited funds...right now we are deadlocked! To mitigate, and to satisfy my immediate want of a new grill, I am considering selling my Primo. With the adjustable fire box height, the Tasty Bake seems like it would be exactly what I need The question is what, if anything, will I sacrifice by not having a Kamado style cooker? Mostly concerned about the slow and low aspect, temperature control (have a DigiQ), and moisture retention. Thanks guys!Tags: None
