    My Outdoor Kitchen

There was an older thread on the subject but, Since the roof is almost finished I thought I would start a new thread on it.

I got my new Weber S470 back in 2011

I have since accumulated other sundry grills, etc and decided I wanted a better outdoor kitchen that would stand up to the elements better

As I have more stuff I put up a 10' x 10' canopy but it didn't keep out the rain so??

I decided to build a roof that would keep most of the rain out. This is the section of the deck that I am using.

We finally started a week ago last Thursday.

My contractor really knows how to get a new job off correctly.

And the rafters and the rafter jig.

    Hopefully more tomorrow.

Jon Solberg I have missed you also Jon. Hopefully I can give the Pit more time now. The Lang is still on hold and it will not be on the deck close to the house. Also the Lang that I like weighs about 1500 lbs. I am doing some re-enforcing under the deck in places we think it needs it. I will be posting pics till the project is completed.

We took all the grills and equipment to the other end of the deck so nothing is usable now. The new gutters, 6" wide, will be here no later than Wednesday, I hope

The roof will overlap the gutters and even with a hard rain water should not get into the area on 2 3/4 sides and we have ideas for the 1 1/4 sides

The fan will help create an updraft. Just above the fan mount is a hole for smoke to escape.

I found some inexpensive paneling to cover the rafters and plan on staining and vanishing the wood to make it easy to clean.

You can see the cap on top of the roof to keep the water from coming in and let the smoke out.

OK, things are going slowly forward but, there has been a few problems. The new 6" gutters had two pieces that were made incorrectly. We had to wait almost a week to get them remade. They have since been installed and it is nice and dry under the roof when it rains now. The roof vent is totally inadequate. I got an electric exhaust fan from Amazon and will install it this week and hopefully that alleviate the problem.

      More pics next post.

The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

      the good one grill
The Good-One Open Range is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.

The flat top does the burgers and the fryer does the fries. Use the griddle for bacon, eggs, and home fries. Or pancakes, fajitas, grilled cheese, you name it. The Pit Barrel Cooker May Be Too Easy

      Pit Barrel Cooker Smoker
The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It is absolutely positively without a doubt the best bargain on a smoker in the world. Period. This baby will cook circles around the cheap offset sideways barrel smokers because temperature control is so much easier.
