    Veg True Planters

So I have been procrastinating about building a raised bed garden in a corner of my yard for several years now. What has stopped me is first and foremost that I am lazy, and secondly that I am 6-6 with replacement knees, and kneeling can get painful. I ran across this recently, and I was wondering if any of you have any experience with them. My carpentry skills are like none, so I am not going to try and make my own

Hmmm, they seem a little pricey for what they are, but then, what price laziness (I am also afflicted with this condition, but cheapness and a fondness for life's necessities compel me to overachieve). Maybe check with a local nursery or garden center for some kind of equivalent.

Go to Amazon and search for "planting boxes for garden". You will get a number of hits in the $100 range with some higher and some lower.

Thanks, I immediately found some. I need my own tomatoes and peppers; the tomatoes in the stores have no taste, and I just want to grow peppers for the heck of it.

I use elevated beds from Cedarcraft besides my raised beds that sit on the ground. Currently have 5 elevated beds around the pool deck. I put them on casters so they are easy to move around when we need to rearrange the deck for certain activities. My wife can’t take much bending over anymore and was going to stop gardening, but these have allowed her to keep it up. Look for the thickness of the side boards as an indicator of quality and longevity.

Lookin at their planters, I see what I perceive as a very approachable, well designed product....

That bein said, I could come out money-ahead, jus buyin a cheapo chop saw, an some treated lumber...makin my own...reckon I'd haveta source me out some them there 'membrane liners', or, mebbe I could jus go all kinda gunnysack, an replace em annually, like we'uns been doin fer Generations.

Mr. Bones - here's an article on the subject. The last paragraph is the important info.

Yup, RonB been exposed to arsenic, an many worse things, Top-Secret Classified in my time

We'uns regularlay made Raised Bed Gardens outta CCA, fer many decades, might explain th extry toes/ fingers found in our offspring, but, then again, that was rather prevalent, locally, even afore th advent of CCA Lumber, so hard to tell...

I'd never advocate that Arsenic is a good thing to have in yer Dietetic uptake, but realistically, is there solid, reliable data on how much water is jus drainin

..thru, vs bein uptaken by th plants? Ours were on th ground, these planters look to be all about drainage, vs retention, which I find to be a Superior design that I might very well emulate, this Plantin Season...

Google wicking bucket or tub. These are what I am using and have worked great for peppers and tomatoes.

I bought one of the "Classic" models a few years back at Costco for my daughter. Costco had a reasonably good price at the time if they still carry them? Unit was well made and easy to assemble and more importantly stopped her dogs from "rooting" in the garden. She has used it for a number of years 3 or more and still going strong.

Thanks for the reply. I have looked at some of the less expensive ones and I am leaning towards this one. Seems well thought out, your review reinforces that idea
