    New to Traeger

    Hello Traeger people.

I'm new to pellet cooking (lump charcoal on a kamodo is my regular form of cooking)

I am curious to know your thoughts on smoking ribs on a Traeger. Is this a pellet specific cook, or do they come out well regardless of fuel source.

My elders think I've devolved into cooking with sawdust....

    Thanks,

I wouldn’t treat your wood selection any different than you would with adding wood chunks on your kamodo... just remember that pellet smoke is much more delicate than other forms.

After cooking ribs on our Traeger, my wife said, go back to smoking them on my PBC.

First cook I would suggest picking the wood of your choice...and let it go...

As Nate stated, pellet cookers tend to have lighter/more subtle smoke profile. Some prefer that (like my mother) which is why I suggest just letting it go the first time out. See what YOU think about it...because it will probably be much different than you’re used to. Not necessarily a bad thing, just different.

I tend to prefer more smoke...so when I’m asked to use my father’s Traeger, I ALWAYS add a smoke tube to bring up that profile.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I'll update when I make some this weekend.
