I hate MAKing decisions, but I ordered a new grill AND bought a new house

GadjetGriller call MAK they'll sort you out on the firmware upgrade, it made the wifi work for pretty much everyone. And it doesn't go to smoke mode with a disconnect anymore like it used to.

yes ItsAllGoneToTheDogs I likened it to the old Nokia Phones back in 2000! I to got a Wifi extender and made a simple and short password. Still have never been able to get it to work. Mine is 3 years old maybe the newer ones work better. Not like I can download an update lol

I was still deployed when mine was delivered, I was so worried they would just drop in in the driveway and leave, but thankfully the driver helped my wife get it in the garage. My wife still says I was more excited to come home to the grill than to the girl... I knew better than to answer that wrong...

ItsAllGoneToTheDogs Unless I add a special extender or something, I think I'm limited to one guest network on my router.

glitchy what I did was make a guest network with a stupid simple and short password, then made the guest network hidden and so that I had to approve devices. Obviously the only approved device is the MAK. If you have a crazy password it's definitely a frustratingly out dated input method. Luckily its a 1 time frustration.

I’m a techie, so cringed and went ahead and got the module. Not looking forward to the setup of that piece from reading the instructions.

I've done that a lot too. Use the pellet rig on occasion as a cambro too. Very handy to push a button and walk away.

I have the wifi and have never had a single problem other than I feel it's overpriced. I assume you tried on one of the newest firmware releases? I know it was a temperamental dud for a lot of folks on the older firmware.

I have a MAK 2 star. Sorry I didn't see this sooner but hope you didn't spring for the Wifi? Mine has never worked. Otherwise a great pellet smoker. Use it all the time. (I'm lazy so like doing overnight cooks its perfect for that!!) I love doing what I call Hybrid cooks. smoke the protein on my Off set for 3 or 4 hours until I get the color and bark I want then wrap and put it on the Mak to finish so I can get some much needed sleep! (thank the fates for Wifi Thermometers (Firedborad II for the win!))
