Similar to Goldenbear, I had my eye on the Weber Smokefire as my first pellet grill but had not pulled the trigger like he had. Have been a long time Weber disciple with various kettles, Genesis gas, WSM, etc. and still have a Performer Plus kettle with the slow & sear - my go-to for killer reverse-sear thick cut rib eyes.
But after a lot of research and gnashing of teeth, I settled on the MAK 2 star general and she arrived yesterday. With a little help from my son-in-law, we had her together in about an hour and a half.
Did the half hour burn-in/seasoning today so she's ready to go for an Easter weekend maiden voyage.
I cannot say enough about how solid and well-built this thing is. It's a 304 stainless steel beast!

Doing burn-in

Love the hopper design and industrial grade auger.
Side warmer box with it's own grease tray and grate. They say the box runs about 50% of whatever the main cooking chamber temp is.
