Show Us Your Wood Cribs and Fuel Storage!

I have been meaning to build a new wood storage rack for some time now. I threw this up a few weeks ago and I finally got it loaded up with what oak and cherry I have left.

I just acquired a new connection for some free smoking wood. They have oak, cherry, maple and apple for the taking. My brother is a member at a golf course that has tons of awesome smoking woods from cutting trees on the course. Originally, it was only open to members for firewood, but no one is taking it. So I jumped on it. I think I am going to pick up the first load sometime this week. I can't wait to fill this new wood rack with some fresh oak and hopefully some more cherry.

What do you use to store your fuel for your smokers/grills? Wood, charcoal, pellets or otherwise.

Here is my newest addition! (Oak on the left, Cherry on the right)

Looking good but I am concerned about storing this wood up next to a wood building. I build temporary racks around the wood lot close to where we get the wood. Have 7 of them around at present.

Sweet John. Youโ€™re becoming quite the handyman with your time home. ๐Ÿ˜. Iโ€™ve been meaning to build something like this for a while now. Ever since Henrik made his. You got some great features on that puppy which I shall incorporate when I get my lazy arsh going.
    Great job brother. ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘Š

Thanks! I think anything you put In the LSG deserves a good home.

Both of you Donw and Spin have a nice wood supply.
I also voice concern with wood close to wood structures. Things might be a little different up north but down here termites are serous problems.

Yeah, never had a problem with it in the past, but Iโ€™ll keep an eye on it. ๐Ÿ‘

No termites (so far anyways) up in northeastern Iowa, so I think Spin is safe. I still don't keep firewood stacked close to my wood-sided buildings because I want the siding to stay as dry and mildew free as possible.

Yeah the -30 F winter tends to do its work on stuff like that. never had issues with termites

I hang mine in the trees so the bears donโ€™t get it.

Spin, when the woods runs out you can throw the rack on the fire. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

actually mine is in the garage.

Now that fuel storage looks WAY better than mine. Good to see you used the space on a rear wall, and partly covered. Great job Spinaker!

I purchased 1.5 tons the other day of mesquite for the parrilla and que bracho colorado trunks for the fire this winter. I usually go through about 5 tons all winter.

The color on that wood is amazing. I am also thinking that is some prime stuff for making lump!

Yep. That's Que Bracho colorado (Axe breaker) , Heavy and hard as a rock. Barely puts off any flames and turns to a red brick that burns for Hours. Some of those large stumps will burn for 30 hours or more in my fire.

Iโ€™ve got some splitting to get done today. Gotta fill up that new storage rack. I picked up 2 loads of Red Oak and Pin Oak rounds from the golf course my brother belongs too. They have an amazing amount of wood to be taken.

          Gotta get to work! ๐Ÿค˜
