    Meat Grinder

I'm wanting to purchase a meat grinder mostly to ground hamburger. Any recommendations on a good but not to expensive one.

Do you have a kitchen aid mixer? If so, the meat grinding/sausage making attachment is great, that's what I use.

Questions: How much are you going to grind? Do you have a stand mixer?

Yeah. First year we stuffed through the grinder too. However, I found out stuffing 140+ pounds of sausage through a grinder ain't cool. So we got a sausages stuffer. Grind it, stuff it......Hooorahhhh!!

I have a LEM 575 watt that I think I got off of Amazon for around $80.00. It will go through 5-6 lbs of Boston Butt in about 7 minutes. Key is to cut meat into manageable chunks, freeze it, and the auger, knife, plates for about 20 minutes. Grinders like to be cold and eat cold meat!

Like Oaf said, the Kitchen Aid does a GREAT job. I've actually run a whole deer threw one minus the back straps.

If you already have the mixer. Its small, easy to clean and store.

For the amount you're planning on grinding, I agree with earlier posts. The kitchenaid attachment will do a nice job and it is much cheaper than a grinder. If you're planning on grinding higher volumes of meat, I'd recommend purchasing a larger grinder. Mine is from Cabelas and does a nice job. I believe it's 1/2 hp like Jerod Broussard has. All that being said, I just looked at Cabelas site and found this little guy. He may be worth looking into - http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabel...t=meat+grinder
