    Removing ribs from the smoker

    I normally use tongs but sometimes the ribs split when I am taking them off the smoker. Since I am cooking eight racks today I wanted something a little better. So... I went out to my shop and made a rib peal, I figured if it works for pizza then why not ribs. -Alden

        Cool! What type of wood is that? Kinda looks like walnut or cocabola.

          Black Walnut, Cocobolo would be pretty expensive.

          I used it this evening to take the ribs off of the smoker and it worked great!

            Cocobolo would be a might heavier too I imagine!

            I have used a pizza spatula for getting butts and large roasts off of the smoker, but your new tool would work awesome for a nice long, full rack of ribs!

            Good thinking Alden. I myself use a big ol' pair of huge tongs. I call them my Binford Tongs (think Tim Allen on Tool Time, ruhhh ruhhh ruhhhh). Large enough to grab the entire rack end to end.

              Very nice looking Rib Peel Alden. What did you finish it with?

                I used walnut oil on it, treated it like I would treat a cutting board.

                @Huskee Grunt, Grunt!
