Whats the one thing you cant live without?

So what the one gadget, tool, thing amabob that you just can't cook without. Ya know the thing that if you don't have you just say "where the heck is my ______! forget it we're going out tonight"

    An oven?
I couldn't imagine trying to do any type of barbecue without a thermometer.
    Aluminum foil is pretty important.
But the only thing that would make me say "screw it, we're eating out" if I don't have it is time.

      Time that is true.

Aside from a heat source, which is an obvious requirement, it would be Seasoning. If it were all gone for some reason, even my salt shaker, then it's pizza night.

Anthony Bourdain once said at times all meat really needs salt and fire.

Chef's knife. If I don't chop, slice, dice, mince or carve something, I feel like I've not done my job.

A good set of tongs and a thermometer.

                Well so far we got:

                fire
                salt
                foil
                thermometer
                knife
                booze
                some drive

                what else?

If cooking all night, the Maverick.

If cooking throughout the day, the Maverick.

It stays hanging on the Pit Barrel. I only have to look for the receiver on my desk. Even being on the top shelf it may take a few minutes.

Well, I guess the only thing I just gotta have is some way to hold the meat out of the fire (assuming I got a place to build one.) But beyond that, it would have to be Scotch.
