    Fire Management Basket for COS

I've been wanting to do something like this for a long time, and finally got around to it. It was pretty easy to do if you've got a welder and something to cut the metal with. I just used ¾x¾x⅛ angle iron and 13 ga ½" expanded metal. The bottom is loose laid so it can be replaced if it ever needs to be (I got that idea from LSG!). I know it looks small, but it can handle up to about an 11" split and I am burning only about 8" splits like the ones in the last picture. I'm quite happy with the way it turned out. I can hardly wait to try it out, but I'll have to since we are going away this week.

Nicely done! Better than my fold up one.

      I love home made improvements.

        Nice fabrication!

Thanks! My welds are butt ugly but they work. At least for this low impact application.

My welds were always so ugly that I would never claim to be a welder just a "sticker together of things". If it holds that's what counts.

The Pit Barrel Cooker May Be Too Easy

The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It is absolutely positively without a doubt the best bargain on a smoker in the world. Period. This baby will cook circles around the cheap offset sideways barrel smokers because temperature control is so much easier.

The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

The Good-One Open Range is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.
