2020 Meat Up - Roll Call

Although a bit early, thought I’d start a roll call thread to see whose in next July for the Meat Up. Other than curious about a head count and continuing to encourage more participants, we can also use this as a coordinating post.

My wife will not be attending so I’m baching it. I made a reservation at the Peabody with 2 beds so will eventually be looking for a roommate to split the cost.

And unless things change, will be driving from Houston. Again got plenty of room and would welcome help with gas. If enough of us locally are going, a van option can be discussed.

PM me if interested in either. So whose in???

(Please, if you are NOT going don’t post that here. We get that not everyone can make it. Thanks)

Wife isn't going either. So difficult to get ex-wives to go along on road trips to help pay for gas.

I'm in too. I also booked a room with two beds, so if my wife doesn't go, (she hasn't made up her mind), I can share my room. And I am drivin' from near Richmond VA, so may be lookin' for someone to share the drive too.

Does anyone know the parking situation at the Peabody?

I'm in and solo as well. Doing the long drive from NorCal, but will visit with friends and family to and fro. Also keeping an open eye for an asylum spot once we attain California refugee status.

TN, like TX, no state taxes. Good place for Cali refugees.

In Chattanooga property taxes are 2.27 per $100 of assessed value, assessed value is 25% of appraised value. Weather is hot and humid, it was 103 a couple days ago. Sales tax is 9.25%.

I'm in. My wife, who NEVER vacations (she's an academic), said she wants to come to join in hitting the blues joints in the evenings. Of course, she'll hole up in the room with her laptop during the days... Gonna be a great weekend!

Barbara and I are both in, although she may have to bail by the May deadline for doing so due to possible conflict with school {she's a "part-time" nursing student with classes all year round.) We haven't booked a room yet. We will most likely have to fly in, again due to her schedule, and might even arrive late on Friday. Neither of us has been to Memphis so we are really looking forward to it. In addition to BBQ, I am a huge lover of the blues, both listening and playing, so this seems like a perfect destination for me.

The Good-One Is A Superb Grill And A Superb Smoker All In One

                      the good one grill

The Good-One Open Range is dramatically different from a traditional offset smoker. By placing the heat source behind and under the smokebox instead of off to the side, Open Range produces even temperature from left to right, something almost impossible to achieve with a standard barrel shaped offset.

Griddle And Deep Fryer In One

                      Pit Barrel Cooker Smoker

The flat top does the burgers and the fryer does the fries. Use the griddle for bacon, eggs, and home fries. Or pancakes, fajitas, grilled cheese, you name it. Why stink up the house deep frying and spatter all over? Do your fried chicken and calamari outside. Blackstone's Rangetop Combo With Deep Fryer does it all!

The PBC has a rabid cult following for good reason. It is absolutely positively without a doubt the best bargain on a smoker in the world. Period. This baby will cook circles around the cheap offset sideways barrel smokers because temperature control is so much easier.

Grilla Pellet Smoker proves good things come in small packages

                      Grilla pellet smoker

We always liked Grilla. The small 31.5" x 29.5" footprint makes it ideal for use where BBQ space is limited, as on a condo patio.
