'Mentioning' another member is a great feature of our forum, and it's popular on other websites too such as Twitter and Facebook. To do this simply type a "@" symbol in front of their username.
For instance, to mention/tag (myself) Huskee, I would type @ then Huskee (tight, no spaces) and it converts it automatically if done right= Huskee
Mentioning a person sends an alert their way that they've been mentioned. It's a great way to involve that person in the conversation, especially if their input is needed, if you feel they'd enjoy the topic, or if you're responding to a question of theirs and you want them to know you've responded.
Please note: For mentioning to work correctly, the username must be typed exactly as it is in the system. Spelling matters! So do spaces!
"Pit Boss" and "PitBoss" could be two different people. "Sammy" and "Sammy Jones" could be two different people. If the mention only sticks to "Pit" or "Sammy" when you meant to mention Pit Boss or Sammy Jones, it won't work. A person who goes by "Pit" or "Sammy" will get a mention alert, not Pit Boss & not Sammy Jones. Pit & Sammy might get annoyed with all these mentions that aren't for him/her.
When a username contains a space, it's important to mention correctly. To get a username with a space to mention properly, there are two ways. 1) Type @ and begin typing the username, and watch for a popup of similar names, then select the correct one, or 2) Type @, than put the username, with the space, in quotes. Example: [@"Pit Boss"] Don't use brackets, they're there to prevent it from converting to a mention, for illustrative purposes.
