Good One Open Range - Part II.V

Okay, so some more much requested pics, an another lengthy missive, as I git ready to launch this cooker into action...

But, yall have asked many questions, an I will do my level best to provide some accurate, factual answers...

rwalters asked some very valid questions, here: which I have been askin my dang self, as well, bein a total newbie to this cooker...so I spent some time, today, lookin fer answers fer all of us, as yet more T Storms roll in...

I like to do my Mission Plannin way out in front, walk through all potential scenarios, in order to better my odds of achievin success, when enterin unknown territory.

After seeing the Open Range in person, can you talk about capacity? How many slabs of St Louis ribs do you think you could squeeze in there, and how would you do it? What about packers? Do you see yourself grilling on this cooker or using it for reverse sears? Sorry to bombard you with questions so soon... just can’t help my curiosity:-)
Okay, Let's us jus see, some, shall we?...

It was (is) jus Swamp-Arse humid out, here, so I loaded some Guinness into my 20 oz. RTIC tumbler, in an attempt to stave off th dreaded Skunk Beer, an Sallied Forth...

I mainly wanted to see what size / shape combinations thereof of pans, pots, racks etc., that I currently have, that might work in th GOOR, an in what combinations.

Science, an MCS, all neatly rolled into one.

Sorry, been out runnin errands, pics begin now...

I had really hoped that these previously purchased rib / roast racks would fit on th top grate, clear th lid, but, alas, it was not to be... they hold th lid bout 3/4" cracked.
If I took th legs offa them, easy peasy, done deal, but they're nice SS, so my angle grinder remains stowed, an I will seek a rib rack option more appropriate to th dimensions of this new cooker...

My burn in got a nice smoke on th grates, an insides, though...smells like a Pit, already, when I walk up close, even more so, when I open th lid!

It won't quite clear th lid, inverted, either. Top rack, at least...
Oh well, they were bought fer another cooker, but certainly worth a try.
I was inspired to try these, from my Dear Friend, Hero, an Cuz, Danjohnston949 , an they will be Great on th bigger cookers they were originally intended fer. www.cavetools.com

It does, however, fit quite nicely, with th top cookin grate removed...

Either side up, it fits / works. Cool Beans.

I think that about 5 pics per post is as many cats as I have th patience to herd, tonight. Forum software can be a buggy pita...

Now, let's see if we can git some pans to fit up in her, mebbe...
Which ones? How many? What level? All are questions that are needin answered, at this point.

These disposable aluminium pans clear, though they jus barely touch th lid, right before it rests fully down. No interference, jus can hear it barely touch. Good enough, pass!

Well, since all grates are th same size, it only stands to reason that more could, potentially, fit in there, right? Right!

I don't always use disposable foil pans, since I have quite a collection of hotel / steam table pans, etc....I wonder how some them will fit in my GOOR?...
2" Half Pan, plus Wally World muffin tin, on lower grate...(tried 4" half pans on top, lid won't close, by far, though two could ride on lower rack)

What else could I use / will fit into my new cooker, so I can plan some meals with multiple dishes????
Mebbe I can fit some o my Cast Iron stuff, which I use primarily? Hmmm, let's see...

Two #8 CI skillets, with room to spare: lower level, room fer two more on top grate.

Reckon I could do a skillet of smoker beans, ham n beans, chili, etc., an have room to make some cornbread sticks, as well...or, I could stack up both cookin grates, do double batches of each...

Further reckon I could do a whole passel of cornbread sticks, if needed...cause I could stack both racks, loaded like this
