    Goldbelly

Anyone ever used this site for specialty food purchases? I was thinking of trying them out for Chicago and Detroit style pizza delivered to my house. If you have tried them for pizza, what do you recommend? Thanks!

Pretty expensive but they got the goods.

I used them once and thought it was a little overpriced. The service was great and the product arrived safely, but I just don't see the value. If you're interested in Detroit or Chicago style pizzas they are very easy to make at home and there's tons of recipes and resources out there. A Detroit pizza pan is nice but I used a nonstick roasting pan the first time and it was great. Here's the recipe I use: https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/rec...e-pizza-recipe

I used them twice, from th same NE TX vendor, to order hot guts. Yeah, their markup is substantial.

Both times, food arrived spoiled, but I place th blame squarely on FedEx.

Took 3+ days to git th food here, when it's only a 10-hr drive. Then, first time, FE set it on a shelf out front, August KS, in th Full direct West summer sun, with th neon orange "PERISHABLE!!!" label facin th street, to greet me, when I got home from work...mid 40's to mid 50's, IR Gun said...

Contacted guts supplier, was promptly, cheerfully sent a replacement order, gratis...

Arrived 10-15 degrees warmer than th first.

I think it's useless to order perishable stuff when you won't be home. Depending on the route, the Fedex/UPS guy will stop by sometime middle of the day meaning your stuff will sit there for hours. Or it spends time in the truck.

Winter? Different thing. But if it's warm out... it's too risky for me.

I order lobster through Goldbelly. The deliveries have been on time, and in perfect condition. It's a pricey treat which I reserve for spoiling my New England Yankee-born husband with.

Yeah, I wasted a good hour at work going down the Goldbelly food rabbit holes.

We have ordered Bartolini’s Chicago-style pizza from Goldbelly and really enjoyed it. I also highly recommend their crab and lobster offerings. As others have mentioned it is quite pricey but everything I have tried has been excellent. No shipping issues so far

I just looked at the Goldbelly site for the first time. Seems like you can get just about anything you might like to eat. But some items don’t seem like they lend themselves well to this type of delivery. Ice cream? A sandwich? I mean who wants to order a sandwich at a really expensive price and wait 2-3 days for it? Better be an epic sammie! In fact everything is really pricey. I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks all for the replies and suggestions! I'm going to try it out for pizza. I don't mind tackling the learning curve of making my own but that's not really why I'm looking at ordering. I want the convenience of getting really good pizza and the only work involved being turning on the oven

I have been itching to place an order from Ess-a-Bagel. Tough to find a good bagel in my town. Maybe a Christmas treat to myself?

We get some pretty good bagels from Katz Delicatessen in NYC, Spacecase . I throw in a dozen (delicious) bialys whenever I order a dozen bagels to help justify the shipping.
