    Packer Briskets in Maine?

Does anyone know where I might be able to buy a packer brisket in Maine, preferably without having to buy a whole case?

Is Costco close by? One is opening up in Scarborough this year. Alternatively, you can download the Instacart app and search for brisket and it will pull the local stores inventory.

I live in Cumberland, so I'm REALLY happy to hear that a Costco is due to open in Scarborough. Last year I was able to buy briskets at an incredibly good store in Indiana, where I was cooking, which was sort of a restaurant supply place also open to the public. The prices were really great, about $3 per pound lower for brisket than the usual sources, including Costco IIRC, as was the meat. Nothing like that around here, AFAIK. Thanks for the tip.

Was that Restaurant Depot in Indy, Janet P ? I live in Indy and I go to go there sometimes. I think you'll like what you see if a nearby Costco is carrying whole packers. The last three I bought from Costco were "Choice" grade and absolutely delicious.

Agree with the above about trying Costco, plus Sam's Club. My local Sam's didn't have them for a long time but about a year or two before the pandemic hit they began stocking them, and cheap too! Most often cheaper per/lb than burger. If you have Meijer around you, my local Meijer also occasionally has both flats and full packers, albeit at ~$7/lb which is way too much for me. Some Walmarts also have them.

If any of those stores do not have them, chat with the workers back in the meat dept, maybe they can get them or order you one. Also, check a local butcher shop, the little guys, they can likely order anything you want, but quite likely higher priced.

I found out that Sam's Club has whole briskets at a great price, so I will have to get over my anti-Walton prejudice and join...once I get a kettle to cook it on.

Have you decided on which kettle you’d like to get, a Weber or SNS?

I really like Sam's Club briskets, but then we don't have a Costco nearby, so I can't compare them to Costco. You can get Prime and Choice briskets at Sam's Club at some pretty good prices. I paid $3.99 a pound for a prime packer I got not long ago from Sam's.

Our local butcher shop and grocery store prices are usually much higher, in the range of $8.99 to $11.99 per pound for choice and prime respectively. Highway robbery!
