OMG I have tears in my eyes from laughing. I can just envision him asking that "......so...how is it you season horse meat again?" :’)

Stopped by the Ace Hardware in Fargo the weekend of their grill festival just because I knew Dan would be there. My wife probably grew up 2 blocks from his house but didn't know him. He was quite the character.

Probably an all time best intro........

"I just joined The Club and am trying to learn to navigate the site. I have grilled and smoked for a couple of days now and I have learned you never serve it until 3hrs. After They Expect To Eat!! They'll eat anything and swear it's great! I enjoy this site very much. Dan"

Man I miss him around here. What a legend. Cheers, brother.

Today it is one year since Dan Johnston passed away.
I'll light a candle, pop a beer and will cremate something in my backyard.

I think of Dan a bunch. I think about him most often when the dogs are sitting with me at the BBQ's. His first bird-mutt passed away while my oldest Ridgeback was sick and was slowly wasting. The only thing she would eat was smoked food. No kidding, I could take chicken or beef and boil it, bake it - no go. She just looked at it. Smoked however, and she would chow it down.
