Been smoking for about 27 years. Started with a WSM knock off. About 5 or 10 years ago, i burned that one out. Decided to got with a stick burning offset. I wasn't smart, and hadn't found any help like this website. So, I bought a cheapie at a big box store. I fought that sucker, but won. :-) We moved here from California 6 years ago and I found that it was a LOT of work to smoke a Thanksgiving turkey at -20*. So, for ease of use, I have bought a SmokinTex 1400. It is electric, which I always called the pansies way. But it will be VERY nice to use in the winter. Just did two butts on it over the last 24 hours and I'm very impressed. Now I need to figure out all the mods to make my offset work better.
