Welcome to the Pit. Would love to visit Dublin and take a tour of the Guinness plant. Scotch/Irish myself, so want to get over there someday and see the McLellan castle in Scotland. Look forward to seeing your future posts.

Welcome to The Pit pobeire I'm sure you'll find a nice group of folks here and lots of great info. We also like to do a little bit of friendly bragging when we get some good cooks or some new toys. Explore our topics with the main "Forums" tab (upper left) and make yourself at home. We even have a FAIL! thread for those humorous (or not so) times when things don't quite go as planned.

Since this is your first post, please check out our homework assignment post for new members, it contains a few how-tos and please-dos.

Hope to hear & see more from you!

    Welcome pobeire!

I was in Dublin back in November visiting my sister. She managed to find me a pretty decent BBQ meal at a place in Dublin who's name escapes me at the moment.
As far as reflecting true BBQ - hard to go wrong with pulled pork. It's basically bullet-proof, pork shoulder is easy to come by anywhere and to me really exemplifies true BBQ.

started a topic hi there from ireland

    hi there from ireland

glad i found this site. lots of interesting stuff and people on here.

i'm a professional chef and caterer operating from a county just north of dublin.

a growing bit of my business has been in the barbeque area, but sadly it has mostly been in providing quickie burgers to parties on gas grills. i'm working to expand on things and bring products to my customers and potential ones that reflect true barbeque.

i have gas grills, a large weber, a small weber and a landmann smoker that i'm working to find products i can offer through this upcoming summer season.

i look forward to interchanges here.

    cheers to all.

Use Our Links To Help Keep Us Alive

A big part of this site is our unbiased equipment and product reviews. We love playing with toys and we have no problem calling them the way we see them. Some companies pay a finder’s fee if a reader clicks a link on AmazingRibs.com and buys a product. It has zero impact on our reviews, zero impact on the price you pay, and the sites never tell us what you bought, but it has a major impact on our ability to keep this site alive! Blackstone Rangetop Combo: Griddle And Deep Fryer In One

The flat top does the burgers and the fryer does the fries. Use the griddle for bacon, eggs, grilled cheese, and so much more. And why deep fry indoors when you can avoid the smell and mess by doing it outside!

Grilla Pellet Smoker proves good things come in small packages

We always liked Grilla. The small 31.5″ x 29.5″ footprint makes it ideal for use where BBQ space is limited, as on a condo patio.

Comprehensive Temperature Magnet With 80+ Important Temps

Amazingribs.com temperature magnet
Winner of the National BBQ Association’s product of the year award. This 8.5″ x 11″ magnet contains more that 80 benchmark temperatures for meats (both USDA recommended temps as well as the temps chefs recommend), fats and oils, sugars, sous vide, eggs, collagens, wood combustion, breads, and more. Although it is not certified as all-weather, we have tested it outdoors in Chicago weather and it has not delaminated in three years, but there is minor fading.

The Cool Kettle With The Hinged Hood We Always Wanted

Napoleon’s 22″ Pro Cart Charcoal Kettle Grill puts a few spins on the familiar kettle design. In fact, the hinged lid with a handle on the front, spins in a rotary motion 180 degrees. It’s hard to beat a Weber kettle, but Napoleon holds its own and adds some unique features to make the 22″ Pro Cart a viable alternative.

GrillGrates Take Gas Grills To The Infrared†Zone

GrillGrates(TM) amplify heat, prevent flareups, make flipping foods easier, kill hotspots, flip over to make a fine griddle, and can be easily moved from one grill to another. You can even throw wood chips, pellets, or sawdust between the rails and deliver a quick burst of smoke.
