I joined the Pit in December 2016 but never posted before. I just stayed in the background learning. But I come from a long line of grilling guys. I remember my grandfather soaking charcol in gas to start the fire! And remember my dad grilling everything he could. We finally started to get serious in 1975 when we bought our first of many Weber Kettles. It was great and when I went to Iran in 77 I took a brand new Weber with me. Then we moved to Athens and finally to England all the time grilling whatever I could find. I left the kettle in England and bought a new one in 81 when we moved back to the states. All the locals just figured I was a crazy American cooking in all types of weather.
I have had lots of different cooking devices and now have one of the first Traeger BBQ126, not many of these around. I modified it with a rotisserie and can get 5 chickens on it. I really love this unit. I also have a Brinkmann 5 burner with a searing grill and a burner on the sides. I do a lot of reverse searing and now with my new Sous Vide cooker I'm doing a lot more. In fact I just pulled 3 Tri-Tip roasts out of the water and will smoke and sear then for Easter tomorrow.
Sorry I rambled on a bit but I GOT HISTORY. :-) Thanks for listening.
