    I'm an Alien - I'm a South African in New York

    Hi,
    I have a lifetime of experience with direct heat from growing up in South Africa. Since I moved to the US I felt like I needed to broaden into BBQ and have now been smoking for the last few years on a WSM. I'm ready to step it up a level.

    If anyone has questions about South Africa or the South African braai, hit me up.

      Welcome!

      Damn I love a good Braai - spent some time with my cuz in Port Alfred, he has his own restaurant - boy can he cook meat. Also spent time in and around Cape Town. So gutted UK law prevented me from bringing back some of the amazing Droewors and Biltong available. No Kudu in Scotland or I would try my own!

        Lekker! I always bring a stash of biltong with me from SA and run the gauntlet at customs. Its worth a few years in prison. I make boerewors and biltong in the US. Its not as hard as it looks

        Welcome from Colorado! Just had SA cooking last night in a relatively new local SA restaurant (Jozi's Kitchen and Shebeen). Great combo of boerewors (served with pap and tomato/onion gravy), bobotie, and chicken bunny chow (both on saffron rice). It was excellent ...
