    Greetings from Austin

Retired now in Austin, Texas where this 2017 summer is just too dang hot. 20 years an ex-pat, mostly Thailand where I started a Meet-Up for Tex-Mex and BBQ. My “dream machine” there was a split 55-gallon barrel, modified side box – which was wonderful but before this website taught me that a Weber 22” is enough until cooking for more than a half-dozen people at once. Pretty much all of Bangkok smells wonderful at lunchtime from countless small grills used by street hawkers and everyone is burning wood lump charcoal. It’s mangrove wood which – there – is flavorful, consistent and dirt cheap. And smells simply amazing. Here, I stock up on Kingsford Blue at Wal-Mart. Currently playing with my Weber, Anova, FireBoard and Slow ‘N Sear to up my game to competition level, I’m already a grilling legend to my dogs. "Greetings from Austin" in Thai would be "Sawa'dee kap, y'all!"
