Welcome, a trip up to Wisco for a football games is one of the best trips of the last 10 years. Sorry, I don't know anything about competitions aside from what I see on tv and even less about pellet smokers. Just the welcoming committee I guess..

Welcome PT! What did you think about the FEC100 Max recommended?

I cook on pellets. Own enough pellet cookers to be embarrassed by it. I work at a pellet manufacturer. Be happy to answer any questions. I cook competitions on the worlds only pellet Jambo. More important than cooker is what's your hauling capacity? Do you have a trailer? Hard to get some of these cookers around without one! Welcome!

Welcome to The Pit Mike. You can click here to read reviews on the grills & smokers Max & Meathead have written. In addition to what Pit Boss and Candy have recommended, there have been a few compliments on the Yoder YS640 pellet cooker, seems like that might be a middle of the budget-road cooker, but built well for the long haul. I don't cook with pellets so my hands-on is null.

            Moving on...
Since this is your first post, please check out our homework assignment post for new members, it contains lots of how-tos and please-dos! Hope to hear & see more from you.

Really we need a budget before we can give much more in recommendations. I agree that YS640 is a good pick at a lower price point than the FEC100.
