    Greetings from Richmond, VA!

My name is Joe and about a year ago I moved from an apartment into a single family home. My first purchase was a 50$ electric Masterbuilt smoker off craigslist. I started off smoking chicken, pork shoulders, maybe some ribs here or there. Every Satruday and Sunday I'd set the smoker and check on it once or twice throughout the day and return to some magical smoked meat. For thanksgiving, I had a "friendsgiving" and smoked my first turkey using the amazing smoked Turkey guide on this site. Around February I tried smoking a brisket, which was amazing.

After about 10 months of smoking weekly, I found that I had hit a ceiling to how good meat could be coming out of the Masterbuilt electric. After doing some research, I spent about 250$ on a char griller akron and some accessories such as a partyIQ fan/temp control, and a pizza stone. In the last three months, I've still been out there every week checking my vents, loading charcoal, adding chips. I love everything about smoking meat and looking forward to learning everything I can about it here on the forum.

I bought meatheads book which is amazing and I direct everyone I know towards this site.
