    Greetings from Chicago!

Hi everyone! My name is David and I currently reside on the north side of Chicago. After thinking I was an ok outdoor cook until I started browsing this site and decided I really didn't know anything at all. I hunkered down and got serious about my grilling (and hopefully soon to be smoking) and started to refine my technique. I've had a Weber Q1200 for the past couple years and that served my wife and I fine enough. However, I quickly noticed its limitations have been reached in pursuit of nicely grilled food.

After begging and pleading, I recently got the green light for a new gasser and ended up getting a Weber Genesis II E-410 in sweet crimson red. I remember my dad in the late 80s getting our family's first Weber Genesis and loved them ever since (that first one is now owned by my older brother and still in use). We only had the new grill for 48 hours and so far I made some flank steak and grilled pizza (yum!).

I guess I also own a redhead 18" Weber Kettle. It came with the house and it's from 1985 (my birthyear) according to the date stamp. I need to get around and replacing the grates and rotten wooden handles.

As far as what I like to cook I enjoy your standard fair of steaks, burgers, sausages, and the like. I also like cooking Filipino BBQ pork skewers which is a street food found in the Philippines and a staple at every Filipino party. I'm also doing my research on smoking and hope to get a WSM soon too!

Huntington Beach welcomes CHI town!! I'm jealous of your gasser. My ex got my genesis. So sad but a fair trade.
