Hi! I'm Evan, and I'm a meataholic!
I've been reading AmazingRibs for at least a couple of years, quietly doing my own thing with an old Weber retrofitted with a PitMasterIQ 110. That convinced me that digital is the wave of the future (the fact that I'm a retired software guy had nothing to do with it -- really!), so when a monetary windfall came along, I went big and bought myself a MAK 2 Star, which arrived last week and has been running pretty much continuously ever since. I've done chicken, pork, beef ribs, and brisket, and even tried a couple of cold smoke cheeses.
Aside from food, I'm mostly a reader and photographer, traveling at least a couple of months a year in our 20' Pleasure Way RV (smallest rig you can get with a full washroom in it), taking pictures and sampling local foods.
I spent years making computer games (largely with EA) and then rounded out my career with Adobe and Amazon, retiring in 2013 and just kind of noodling around since then.
Married, two kids both grown, one gone (she's a fine woodworker in Vancouver, BC), one here while he gets certified as a welder, one beautiful red headed wife who's getting her pilot's license, and one dog who really, truly believes what Snoopy used to say: "Dogs were born to sleep in the sun".
